I don't know if this is used or not... http://maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=s&lat=27.949772&lon=-82.461564&zoom=19&q1=university of Tampa Tampa FL
His post about the new badge, the old badge and the badge that could have been on his main page was pretty good too. The one by the guy from Miami is what the team should have gone with.
I seriously doubt it. I'm pretty sure that piece of land is pretty expensive. And I don't think that there's enough room for a stadium and parking there.
Just reading Ralph's Mob website and I saw this cool mock-up of the stadium/soccer field. http://ralphsmob.ning.com/profiles/blogs/back-from-vaction-looks-like-i Thanks poster Francis Novoa!
I'm thinking that sections are like this section 3 is 103, 4 is 104. 102,103,104 "Rowdie" Zone Although I would prefer bleachers at the far end of the goal. another view:
As a Yankees fan, this is ****ing sweet! Terrible sightlines for soccer but whatever, I'll never go to a game. I will, however, watch on TV if they show a Rowdies home game on FSC.
How come they can't put the stadium sideways like in KC: http://web.mlsnet.com/t105/stadium/ Field dimensions for Steinbrenner Field: Left field - 318 ft Left-center - 399 ft Center field - 408 ft Right-center - 385 ft Right field - 314 ft Field dimensions for CommunityAmerica Ballpark: Left Field 300' Left-center - 370' Center - 405' Right-center - 390' Right Field - 330'
The shape of the stand. http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=27.9803039&lon=-82.5064659&z=18&l=0&m=b Notice how it comes in toward the field? http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=39.1245339&lon=-94.8304653&z=18&l=0&m=b CommunityAmerica Park is more angular, allowing for the field to fit there.
When I'm at home, FSC is on my TV 24/7. I'll probably tune in for the full 90 if the game is entertaining enough.
there is a big lot on kennedy near downtown where the Furman auto place used to be, and a lot across from UT where a skyscraper was rumored to go up a few years ago. Imo there are spaces available for a stadium with parking, but meh. we'll see I guess
Yeah looking at Legends Field it's foul territory appears similar to Yankee Stadium, very long behind the plate but narrow down the lines. CAB is much wider much further out by comparison allowing the soccer field to fit closer.
Uhmm....very interesting. Didn't the Tom McKewen article quote David Laxer saying that their stadium would be near the Univ. of Tampa?
I'm wondering if these location's are seriously being considered by the team. Would the Furman location be zoned for a stadium?
dunno dude, just mentioned large open lots in the vicinity. I neither know if either is large enough or can be rezoned as required (if needed?). The old ferman auto lot is pretty big though. Id imagine any project would still require more property being purchases and existing structures being demolished. A stadium in that area would have great views and add much needed character to downtown, a stadium on the river would be fantastic imo. but all of this is nothing more than wishful thinking, I'll just be happy when we have a team that sticks around. after that its all icing
The question is how much it'd cost to purchase the land. Depending on where it is, it might be too expensive; that's the "occupational hazard" of building a downtown stadium.
Question for you guys, since I've only been by that area once (the Outback Bowl this year): Steinbrenner Field is on the same road that leads to Raymond James Stadium, right? Just wondering because I'm thinking of going down to Tampa to see the July 15 game against Puerto Rico.
This could be the new location for the Rowdies stadium: http://www2.tbo.com/content/2010/fe...could-be-part-fairgrounds-project/news-money/ "It could be a soccer stadium, it could be anything," Greco said of the stadium in his project. http://www2.tbo.com/content/2010/feb/17/na-stadium-pitches-may-be-in-works/ If the land isn't for the Rays franchise is it for the Rowdies?
