It's all about the cause but I gotta say this new logo is a let down : http://www.courant.com/sports/hockey/hc-wolf-pack-0930-20100929,0,5117455.story
I didn't see any 'logo' to speak of, just the picture of a Whale with 'ers' next to it on Pucky's sweater. I suppose if CTWhale are playing the 'long-game' on this, surely Whale is an acceptable half-way point? I'm sure there are plenty that are disappointed that its didn't go directly to Hartford Whalers, but, perhaps if the support is there, it can be a long-term goal.
Don't like the logo at all. The original was brilliant in its simplicity. When the NE Whalers joined the NHL and the logo was revamped to add the H I figured it was golden. That sperm whale jumping through a giant C isn't nearly as good.
The Whale is officially back and on the ice. Great turn out, just have to keep the enthusiasm alive and show Gary that Hartford is a NHL city. http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local-beat/The_Whale_Makes_Their_Debut_Hartford-110921214.html
Now that the dust has settled a little bit, has there been any bump in attendances since Wolf*pack became Whale? How are the team doing on the ice??
Attendance has grown and although it's still early on, attendance since the name and identity change has been great. The Whale has only played under the new name and colors for a little over a week.
http://www.ctwhale.com/default.asp?ctwhale=136 Didn't see this posted. Connecticut Whale v. Providence Bruins at Rentschler Field, February 19. Regarding attendance: Through Friday, Connecticut averaged 4,308 for their 17 home games. That puts them 16th, and just below the league average of 4,663. Hershey leads with an average of 9,204.
