He is a great talent but I seriously doubt that NY will pass up on him.

    I miss Johnny Steele....:(

    Mac Kandji is a RailHawk

Never too early to start, eh?

So, any news/rumors? I've been busy lately and only occasionally check BS/USL Discussion/TSF (nice work on the goal videos btw)

My dad saw Ryan Solle's dad over the holidays and he said he wasn't sure about Ryan's return to the team for next season, said something about looking to go to Europe somehow...

    There's my contribution.

We'll get into some serious projecting/analyzing once the roster shapes up a bit so for now, let me just say that it feels like a long time since I've been to a RailHawks game, so I'm already excited and it's only January.

It appears the New England Revolution will be traveling down to Cary to take on the Railhawks in a pre-season match on March 13th.

It will be very interesting to see who will field for that match. That is very early in our preseason and I'm starting to get the impression that Rennie is going to bring in a lot of new players for next year.

    Re: 2009 Preseason Thread

I hope that's the case. And by new players, I mean new to USL/professional soccer in general... USL teams should be snapping up these young guys that no longer have space on an MLS roster or on their reserve squad. Enough with the 35+ USL re-treads every year... this league could be really exciting with a bunch of young guys looking to make a name for themselves.

No offense because I really like both of them, but I'd like to see less Edozien's and Worthen's and more Nunez's and Fusilier's...

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but has anyone got any news on Cerritos and if he has signed an extension to his contract? I might be wrong, but i thought that last year he only signed on till the end of the season. Is he expected to play this year?

No word from the RailHawks on ANY returning players yet. My gut tells me Cerritos will not be back, but that is a completely uninformed guess on my part.

When would it be expected that the club announce it's squad for the upcoming season?

If you enjoy watching players who can score goals at the International level, then yes, really.

If you want to watch guys bang it around and hope for the best, you may need to find your soccer fix elsewhere this season.

NY's option was for $175,000, frpm which the $25,000 loan fee to Atlanta would be subtracted.

So that'll be $150,000 to Carolina. A nice chunk of change for y'all, and well worth it for NY.

Is $150K the American record for a domestic transfer?

    Battery sign Carolina's Sanfilippo

Just saw that Sanfillipo signed a contract with Charleston. Although his playing level slipped a little last season, I'm going to miss the intensity and character that he brought to the team.

    Best of luck Frankie!

    Re: 2009 Preseason Thread

yeah, I agree... I liked him too.

But then again, it's not surprising. He was the captain/one of the defining players of Scotty's team that Rennie's looking to get rid of because he probably wants to start fresh with a new identity.

I wonder how many players we'll even recognize this year
