so how bout Chivas eh... got to give them credit. having the most injury prone team EVER and still finding a way to win 4, draw 1, and yet to lose. did anyone see the attendance at the FCD game? WOW! that is AWFUL!
How about the attendance at the RSL-NYRB match? 8,500 in nice weather? Pitiful. And we were taking flak from trolls for only having 11,800 in our last two matches in poor weather.
soccer haters can always find something to bitch about... like the fact that they couldnt do just about anything a soccer player does. They cant even dive as well as soccer players..
the chivas defense was trying its best to play like Horst... good god that was an ugly goal. This does help RSL tremendously though. 2 games in hand and 7 points back. This weekends game and the home game v LAG need to be wins to make up the ground fast
http://www.mls-rumors.net/2009/04/photo-union-philadelphia-to-be-philly.html I wonder, if when Philly Union comes to Sandy, should we dress up as Rebels and waive the rebel flag?
i thought we were trying to get rid of these kind of things in the soccer. utah doesnt exactly have the greatest image as is (lot of it is false, but its still there) so why would we want to confirm some of these false ideas? when the union faces the revolution though... well that should be interesting
How about dressing up like scabs and strike busters? Or making a bunch of "RSL complement" posters? Get it? Having fun with set operations? Anyone? I'll let myself out.
I was joking. As someone from PA but exiled for a time to the South, I am fully aware of the Rebel cause. I was just thinking of creative ways of making fun of "Union". I am still in favor of a family friendly Philly supporters group called FC Cheesesteak.
If I've done nothing else but increase the Wasatch Front's appetite for fine, Philly cuisine, I have succeeded.
Okay well news around the league is...well basically all the western teams but us won. Oh and FCD still sucks, thank goodness.
so, it is official, columbus is going to be the last team to win this season. LA got a pretty lucky and VERY questionable hand ball call to get their pk... and it should have been blocked. Maybe LA will be overconfident coming here on wednesday
So speaking of 'around the league' did anyone see Montero's red card? I thought that was a soft red card. His arm did come up, but no apparent attempt to make contact other that shield himself and get some lift from his jump.
so any contact above the shoulder warrants a red. I could understand the yellow in Freddy's case. But a straight red seemed harsh when all he did was lift his arm. He never swung or even looked at the defender. His eyes were on the ball. Edit: on taking another look, I guess he does appear to swing the arm back some. So maybe its more justified than I thought.
IF they are going to call them...call them everytime. Not just once and a while. Mastroeni could easily have gotten a red when he went with his elbow to the back of Morales head. But as usual nothing called. Funny how Mastroeni didn't get punished with his delibirate elbow to the back of Morales head and then Morales gets suspended for an elbow. WOW I HATE MLS REFS AND MLS OFFICIALS. Sad thing is my spanish profesor used to be an MLS ref and is on the review commitee.
He isn't Jair Marrufo, is he? I wonder how's that jersey fitting? I'm surprised this topic (Jair/Cuauhtemoc/jerseygate) hasn't been discussed around here yet....
You owe me a new monitor. When I scrolled down and saw Blanco smiling and giving a thumbs up, my immediate reaction was to punch my screen.
Oh, Blanco isn't smiling in that picture. Look closer at the facial features. There is a crease in his brow, the smile is more of a grin he is trying to hide, and his eyes are opened a bit more than usual. He's not smiling, but rather laughing on the inside because he just let loose an SBD and no one is aware of it. The two thumbs up is a dead giveaway. He sucker-clouded the next player in the picture line.
Thanks to everyone for the forensic analysis of Blanco, but my whole point was to start a discussion on the referee bribing scandal in MLS....but maybe that's not as important as Blanco's digestive problems.
