Standings: Three players (MIKEY MOUSE, DIAMONOTRON, and SJJ [myself]) went 2-for-2, and JIMMYCO only had one win, putting MIKEY MOUSE at the top of the table, with one game to go. With 21 points for the final, MIKEY and JIMMY are the only two players in the running for the title. (DIAMONOTRON can win, and fall one point short; wish that they had played the first two rounds.)

MIKEY and JIMMY are also tied with net-26 wins, with CLEAZER clinching third in this category with 23.

Six goals were scored in the two games, which play into the tie-breakers. I am tied with INWOODBRIDGE for fourth place at 75 points, but I predicted seven goals to INW's ten, so I win the net-goal-differential tie-break 1 to 3. There is a three-way tie for seventh place at 65 points: OPAL347 and REVOLT both predicted six goals total (first tie-break), and four goals in DC-NE (second tie-break), so the net-wins tie-break gives OPAL seventh, REVOLT eighth, and GIO17 (who only "predicted" two goals; I entered the games as 1-0 since no goal-prediction was actually given) ninth place.

An interesting thing happened in our COMPOSITE picks: both games had 5 players predict one team, and 5 players predict the other. So those games are washes for COMPOSITE.

And welcome to our fourteen player, MISTER OBVIOUS, who went 1-for-2. (Four players did not enter picks this round: CLEAZER, BRIANASHER, TRUTH COMMISSION, and ECKSTOSS.) In future years, I would like to get more players, specifically, at least one supporter from each Open Cup team.

Sorry if the table has a quite a bit of columns: I included the goals-predicted and goal-differential columns.

    (R1, R2, R3, R4, R5), Goals, GD, (Wins), [Pts], Player

    (16, 8, 8, 4, 2), 0, 0, (38), [158], (MAXIMUM)
    (12, 6, 5, 3, 0), 0, 0, (26), [90], (COMPOSITE)

    (12, 4, 4, 4, 2), 5, 1, (26), [118], MIKEY MOUSE
    (11, 5, 6, 3, 1), 9, 3, (26), [107], JIMMYCO
    (0, 0, 6, 3, 2), 8, 2, (11), [96], DIAMONOTRON
    (6, 7, 3, 0, 2), 7, 1, (18), [75], SJJ
    (0, 0, 5, 3, 1), 10, 4, (9), [75], INWOODBRIDGE

    (10, 4, 5, 2, 0), 4, 2, (21), [72], EPIKOINOS
    (10, 5, 5, 1, 0), 6, 0, (21), [65], OPAL347
    (10, 0, 0, 4, 1), 6, 0, (15), [65], REVOLT
    (11, 6, 1, 3, 0), 2, 4, (21), [65], GIO17
    (12, 6, 4, 1, 0), 0, 6, (23), [64], CLEAZER

    (10, 0, 5, 2, 0), 0, 6, (17), [60], BRIANASHER
    (0, 0, 0, 0, 1), 3, 3, (1), [15], MISTER OBVIOUS
    (11, 0, 0, 0, 0), 0, 6, (11), [11], TRUTH COMMISSION

Well it doesnt look like the battery are going to sign a world class striker before Tuesday.

Saying that DC looks to have quite a few injury problems.

And being a homer Im going to go with a Battery win. (hey USL is due right?) I think it will end 1-1 and the Battery will win it on PKs.

Now I hope I havent jinxed the Battery.

    Go Battery!!!

Mikey, yours is a quality club and this has been a great run. I see it ending in D.C. But if the Battery plays the organized defense that they have been through this tournament, you could be right. The Rhinos gave D.C. all it could handle. First up for the Battery is PR back from CCL success and D.C. has an important MLS game with RBNY.

I guess I'll take that as a prediction, again, giving it a score of 1-0 for tie-breaker purposes.

    My prediction: DCU 2-1

I predict A Battery, I whant it and the USL could use it, and I think Charleston have the wuality ta pull it off. What the score will be I don't know, but I'm predicting a close, no more than two goal, difference.

    And the Results are In

JIMMYCO wins the tournament, with the DCU 2-1 victory over Charleston, allowing Jimmy to overtake MIKEY MOUSE for the title, 128-118. DIAMONOTRON was close behind at 117. (For the record, the MAXIMUM possible points was 179.) Jimmy also wins the net-win category 27-26 over Mikey, leading a crew of 6 people who had at least 20 wins (and myself at 19) in the 39-game event, getting a +.500 record.

The Goal-Differential tie-breaker had to come into play in two cases. (The first tie-break was the total-goals predicted in the last three games, over or under, so predicting 8 or 10 both gave a GD of one.) There was nine goals in the SF's and F's. For fourth place, I predicted ten goals to INWOODBRIDGE's twelve, so I get fourth. For eighth place, REVOLT predicted six goals to GIO17's three (GIO17 never gave scores, so the predictions were entered at 1-0 for each game), so REVOLT gets eighth.

We had one last-minute new-commer, ALEJO, who incorrectly predicted the final, giving us 15 players for the tournament. We got a win in the COMPOSITE pick for the final, giving us a collective 27 wins and 111 points.

    And again, the points-by-round were 1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 21 per correct prediction.

    The table:

Place, (R1-R6), (Goals, GD), {Wins}, [Pts], Player
    1, (11, 5, 6, 3, 1, 1), (14, 5), {27}, [128], JIMMYCO
    2, (12, 4, 4, 4, 2, 0), (7, 2), {26}, [118], MIKEY MOUSE
    3, (0, 0, 6, 3, 2, 1), (11, 2), {12}, [117], DIAMONOTRON
    4, (6, 7, 3, 0, 2, 1), (10, 1), {19}, [96], SJJ
    5, (0, 0, 5, 3, 1, 1), (12, 3), {10}, [96], INWOODBRIDGE
    6, (10, 4, 5, 2, 0, 1), (8, 1), {22}, [93], EPIKOINOS
    7, (10, 5, 5, 1, 0, 1), (8, 1), {22}, [86], OPAL347
    8, (10, 0, 0, 4, 1, 0), (6, 3), {15}, [65], REVOLT
    9, (11, 6, 1, 3, 0, 0), (3, 6), {21}, [65], GIO17
    10, (12, 6, 4, 1, 0, 0), (0, 9), {23}, [64], CLEAZER
    11, (10, 0, 5, 2, 0, 0), (0, 9), {17}, [60], BRIANASHER
    12, (0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0), (3, 6), {1}, [15], MISTER OBVIOUS
    13, (11, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0), (0, 9), {11}, [11], THE TRUTH COMMISSION
    14, (9, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0), (0, 9), {9}, [9], ECKSTOSS
    15, (0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0), (1, 8), {0}, [0], ALEJO

Speaking of the number of players, I would like in the future to get at least one supporter from each LHUSOC team. Any ideas on getting this word out more?

Hopefully, MLS teams will continue to participate in the LHUSOC. The commish has hinted at looking at the number of tournaments the teams participate in: http://web.mlsnet.com/commissionerspeaks/

Thanks Diamonotron (and everyone who participated) - this was fun. Especially those nights I had 3 video streams and an audio stream of live games running simultaneously on my computer. Talk about information overload!

I'll second the thanks to SJJ for keeping track of all this.

    Same time next year, everyone?
