OK, I promised myself I wouldn't do this again, but the wacky Mathis trade inspired me. Post your confirmed roster moves with some kind of source in this thread, and I'll compile them into a nice little list. As usual, our list will be better than the one on MLSNet. Here's move numero uno: Los Angeles Inbound: Clint Mathis (trade w/ NY) New York Out: Clint Mathis (trade w/LA) Draft Picks 3rd round in 2008 draft (from LA in C. Mathis trade)
Add retirements of Jones and Armas Chicago Out: Chris Armas (retired) Los Angeles In: Clint Mathis (trade w/ NY) Out: Cobi Jones (retired) New York Out: Clint Mathis (trade w/LA) Draft Picks 3rd round in 2008 draft (from LA in C. Mathis trade)
Add Ronald Wattereus of NYRB has retired. Josh Gros of DC United is retired but has not officially made an annoucement yet.
Add Daniel Osorno to the list of retired players: http://www.coloradorapids.com/News/NewsDetails.aspx?NID=J9+5givG++E= Not like we lost anything there though
Add four more retired players Chicago Out: Chris Armas (retired) Paulo Wanchope (retired) Colorado Out: Daniel Osorno (retired) DC Out: Josh Gros (retired) Los Angeles In: Clint Mathis (trade w/ NY) Out: Cobi Jones (retired) New York Out: Clint Mathis (trade w/LA) Ronald Wattereus (retired) Draft Picks 3rd round in 2008 draft (from LA in C. Mathis trade)
And Eddie Pope. 3rd degree is reporting that Sebastian Botero has been released by FC Dallas, so he can try to catch on with a team in Colombia. http://www.3rddegree.net/2007/11/practice-observations-passing-time/

Great Thread. I can see already that DCU has lost what were until this season two key midfielders in Gros and Carroll.
Sitckied. And what do you mean Phantom, implying you wouldn't do this again. Why else would I come to BigSoccer in the offseason if not to check this thread every day?
None. My guess is that there are two factors here: --the difficulty of contacting players in the off-season or over a holiday (to let them know first a trade is happening: some organizations operate that way rather than just announcing it and letting the player find out through the media). --some hardball is going on. A lot of that happened with TFC (where they supposedly wanted Conway, NYRB wanted Eskandarian, then the Dyachenko situation where MoJo knew that DCU needed depth before the CCC started). Columbus is also notoriously difficult to trade with. Or maybe Yallop is demanding a first round pick for a player that the original team views as only worth a #3 or #4 pick.
