Um me thinks you a bit confused, the expansion NPSL team to be located in Mohawk Valley never said that they could operate on a total budget of $35K. What they did say however is that investor income is currently promised at $35K/year. Total operating budget is at a minimum of $100K.
The main problem is that sure, in the beginning you have a nice chunk of $$ to spend on a team. But that money goes away, and unless you are bringing in $$ from somewhere else (camps, clinics, etc etc) you are simply a black hole. That is why USL teams fail, or teams in the PDL. What do you get if you win the USL? a Trophy and a handshake, no $$, nothing, and you just spend a pretty penny on your operating costs for the year. That is why the NPSL is the way to go. All teams have a say, smaller operating costs. You actually can operate a team with around a $35,000 a year budget, but you are not going to be able to do much advertising, marketing, etc. Bare bones for the season you would survive, but it depends what you can generate that will keep you around for next year. Also, the downfall of most teams that go under is when they get a sponsor for $5,000, they spend $6,000. You have to think for the future.
To get to $100k, they need 2,000 members. Are there 2,000 people out there? See, this thing seems flawed because there's no mention on that site of just how many people they actually need.
The Bay Area Ambassadors are officially open for buisness. http://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=baambassadors They're having try-outs next week.
The football stadium does but once the old soccer field is back (they turned it into a parking lot) it will be grass. Good move from the owners to add a team, now that both the Seals and Frogs are gone.
I dont know. I heard they folded from one of the people who was involved with the frogs. He also mentioned the frogs have been baught by someone else and the reason why they chose not to play this 2009 season was the seals folded, so they will wait and play in 2010. I also heard it from one of their players.
That's news. They don't mention it on their website, just that they postponed a game this fall to the spring because of the economy. But then that was over a month ago too. That would be unfortunate if the Seals also folded. Also good got see the Hayward team playing on real grass if they in fact end up on the new soccer field.
