Derlei is out 6 months, Who's in? I wanted to get a feel for what Sportinguistas think should happen now that is has been announced that Derlei will miss the next 6 months. Should Yannick Djalo get the start or should Purovic get the nod? Should Sporting only play one forward in Liedson?
Sporting announced that Derlei will have surgery on his knee possibly even in the coming week. He will miss the next six months. I hope Yannick is ready.

With both Derlei and Pedro Silva out for at least 6 months, Sporting are out of luck in getting someone in now as the transfer window has closed...
Re: Derlei is out 6 months, Who's in? We're more out of luck with Silva going down right now then with Derlei. Remeber, we have Celsinho who, if needs be, can play up top. The Silva injury will hurt us more as we only have 1 backup FB now and only adds to the notation that we're going to see 343/352 alot more.

As for forward, Luis Páez may get the chance to be the 4th striker on the depth charts. He really young at 17 years-old, however very promising...
Derlei is gone for 6 months and this gives one of Milan Purovic or Yannick D'jalo an opportunity to excel in his absence. Pedro Silva is also out for 6 months and this one will hurt more if only because Sporting doesn't have anyone with experience to back-up Abel.
Re: Derlei is out 6 months, Who's in? What a shame about Derlei, he was enjoying a good training camp, and was starting to show a flash from the past. Now season over for him. As for replacing, I don't think PB will go with Purovic as the starter eventhough he's going to get a lot more playing time. PB seems to like forwards with more mobility, so off the start we'll see Yannick, and don't be surprised if Izmailov gets a crack at that position. Now lets hope these injuries stop, we just can't afford to have anyone else go down.
Not having Derlei will hurt particularly in the CL matches, his experience and knack for Scoring in big games will be sorely missed. SCP have a plethera of Midfielders but no legetimate forwards aside form Liedson and Purovic. Djalo is more of central midfielder or flank player. I would like to see either Izmailov or Vuckcevic there...both work hard and could work well with Liedson.
Pereirinha is hurt again will be reevaluated friday, not a big deal, but a injury notheless hurting his progression in the A team. Will probably be out for a week. Polga having to come out in the game versus Guimaraes. Injured his inner thigh muscle, but nothing major. He will be treated, and friday will determine when he'll return to full practice schedule. The others Derlei, and Pedro Silva are on schedule.
Yeah, I think Djalo really misses Nani . He just hasn't been the same since the ManU' star transfered.
Pedro Silva is finally healthy...Derlei still in the gym. Both Tiago and Djalo are in the middle of their Rehab.
On a sad note Vukcevic injured his shoulder in yesterdays home win vs Basilea, and will be out for 3 weeks. Montenegro coach Filipovic isin't too happy, considering he was planning to call him up to play Norway next month.
