hey, the guy selling the shirt said its the one worn in the 1997 CL, but if you check a video of the final on youtube, while the shirt he's selling has "Die Continentale" on the front and "Dortmund" along the lower back, the shirt they wore in the final has neither!
That would make it the shirt we wore on the final day of the 1996-97 BL season. We were not allowed to wear "Die Continentale" on the shirts for the CL then because another insurance firm bought the rights to be an official CL sponsor. We didn't wear "Die Continentale" on our shirts at all during the CL that season. And after the season, "Die Continentale" deserted us for Hertha BSC Berlin. By the time I bought mine, we already had the new sponsor, "s.Oliver" on the shirts. Your shirt should still be authentic and it reads as if it is the model we wore in the CL Final, but not exactly THE shirt. I've seen people with those but not so many because I don't think they sold them for very long.
oh ok. thanks for the info footyfan. but how come there also was no "Dortmund" along the lower back in the CL final? The shirt I ordered has that.
Today's SportBild speculates that AS Roma has not lost interest in Dede and will make an offer for him again after this season.
Awwww... I was telling people in an Everton forum that if we steal pienaar, we might as well steal Kehl as well as he's one mean DM that we need (Carsley's getting old). Great signing though. BvB through and through
I got the shirt today. It's in very very good condition. Probably only been worn 1-2 times (well it was in England all this time ). There are 3 very tiny light brown spots on the material on the yellow but that's it. Way too small to notice unless you look properly. The fluorescent colour's not faded at all unlike the impression I got from the photo. It's so bright that it reflects the brighter sunlight and lights up the wall from close range. The "Dortmund" across the back's higher than I thought - pretty much halfway up the shirt - which kind of rules out cris' theory that it was obscured because the shirt was tucked in. I'm wondering if I should get it named and numbered...it'd either be Chapuisat or Moller if I do...but I might keep it like it is to show the team''s more important than one player.
Congrats. I haven't looked at my shirt recently, but the "Dortmund" should be low enough to appear under any name and number that would be on the shirt. It would not be at the very bottom. And if some players wore "baggy" shirts for them, yes, they could tuck the "Dortmund" into their shorts. We used to comment quite a bit back then that many times you could never really see the "Dortmund" on the back of the shirts as they played. It annoyed some of the guys I know up in that area. I don't know why I didn't remember that before.
Yeah it's nice to get this shirt. Dortmund are the club that got me into football in the early 90s and I supported them when I was young for about 5-7 years. Only team apart from the German NT that I've ever supported. Actually it was Dortmund that got me to follow the NT. Now I might eventually get a Germany shirt too... I'll take a photo of this one and put it up sometime to show you where the "Dortmund" on the back is.
That would be correct. However, I see what you aren't getting. You'd be hard pressed to find a footballer who wears an XL! On the smaller shirts, there were times where the "Dortmund" wound up tucked into a player's shorts. Why? Because whether the shirts were smaller or larger, the numbers and letters used on the back remained the same size and they were pretty big....
Good spot, yeah. This is a XL shirt...too big for me really as well, but I wasn't gonna be picky on ebay. What a beautiful shirt...it's gotta be one of the most distinctive uniforms in all of football
If Moeller was 28 now, as he was at the time of the CL win, would he be starting for Germany today? HELL YEAH!!!
Yeah. That's the shirt they wore on the final day of the 1996/1997 Bundesliga season. I have the version done for the 1997/1998 Bundesliga season with "s.Oliver" as the sponsor.
