Thanks for the info. and history on the four stars on Chicago's third jersey. I sorta like that they incorporated the cities flag and history. Also I agree that having the name of the team across the jersey is too much. (Metros, Galaxy) The crest/badge is enough.
Just curious. The bib thing on the Galaxy kit is something I can't recall having seen before. Are there other examples of bibs?
That's part of Nike's "Total 90" kit which is worn by many national and club teams around the world. The bib shape isn't always as obvious, but you can see the cloth panels on everything from Arsenal to the Brazilian and Mexican national teams - and as pointed out already, the U.S. nats as well.

The league decides which sponsor patches go on which team's uniforms (i.e. the Sierra Mist patch abomination on my Rev's uniforms). It's no surprise that the teams have their names on their jerseys to help grow recognition.
Curt Johnson told me that every season they have the same discussion with the league. The league tries to get KC to put "WIZARDS" on the jerseys, but the team insists on "KANSAS CITY". I like the MLB example where most teams put the city name on the away grays and the nickname on the home jersey.

hahah, what am i uptight about? i don't even not like the fire...i have no team to support so i like the ones that are the best ran, DC, Chicago, etc... but to say your team is the best when you don't have the most championships, trophies and didn't make the playoffs last year...i was just joking... your the uptight one buddy, calm down...crap they say, hah, what an idiot...

PLEASE second, you must not know a lot about being a supporter to a team, because although we say our team is the best doesn't mean they are, by definition, the best... but since we support a certain team, which apparently you don't, you wouldn't know and third, i was only referring to our uniforms... you looked way too much into what i said
i wouldn't know about supporting teams, hah, i'm only 21 and have had season tickets (on my own) since i was 16 for seahawks games...hmm you must not know anything cuz its kind of hard to support a MLS team from seattle where the closest team would be San Jose...
