This thread featured some interesting conversations last season, and since we have played our first official game of the 2005/06 campaign, it's time to start a new thread.

I didn't see the first half of the Super Coppa but apparently Juve was robbed of a goal...and they went on to lose only 1-0 in ET.

So going into Week 1 of Serie A, the standings are as follows:

    Milan 0
    Juve -1

    Play ball!

Inter (and Milan) fans would argue that there was a PK that should've been called in the 2nd half when Martins was brought down in the box. If so, that would even things out and make the result a wash.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten about that. I don't think it was a penalty based on the replay I saw (once), but I didn't pay too much attention to the incident as I was eating pizza at the time...so don't take my word for it.

I think De Santis decision not to suspend the Ascoli/Milan match yesterday cost Milan 2 points. I didn't see anything in the Juve/Chievo match that helped or hurt them. Therefore:

    Milan -1
    Juve -1

Looks like the refs are out to get Milan and Juve this year ;)

wasnt that bad at cino. ive seen much much worse. saying this was a favour from de santis to Juventus or ascoli is rediculous. milan should win that game under any weather conditions. its not like ascoli played on a perfect pitch either.

It is sort of ironic because Juve played one game on a horrendous field last year, and somebody on last year's thread listed it as a favor to Juve (because they won). Of course, it was against Lecce and not Ascoli, but still ... anyway, it really takes a LOT of rain to suspend a Serie A game. The only suspended game last year was Messina-Atalanta and it was a massive gusting wind and rain storm, not just heavy rain. And even then, Messina was mad that they called it off because they were winning. The rule now is that suspended games get restarted from the point where they were stopped.

I seem to remember a certain game at Perugia where a certain mister Collina decided to keep the game going, it cost Juve the Scudetto.

This is getting off topic, but I'll answer that anyways ;)

I've always said he's overrated, and I shed no tears to see him go away.

Juve-Ascoli: Nedved not carded for the handball, but then again neither was Cristiano of Ascoli.

Speaking of Cristiano's incident, what is the rule for penalties? Does the handball have to be intentional for it to be called?

Maybe we should include Inter in this thread after yesterday's awful non-offside call which led to the only goal of the game vs Fiorentina.

Pieri is the worst referee in Italy. He's only around because his dad is a bigwig in the AIA.

Inter should lose a point for that offside.

and then Roma had a free kick taken from them right outside the box during the Roma VS Livorno match which you guys didn't count.

Are you talking about the one when Livorno's wall kept charging in early and the ref finally yellow carded Totti because he wouldn't kick it? I heard pretty much the same thing happened to Juve during the Juventus-Parma game, with a frustrated Zambrotta eventually committing a bookable offense after the shot was blocked by the infringing defenders.

the wall on free-kicks are almost never right. refs just dont care too much about it. charging early is an automatic yellow card, but they never give it. its especially frustrating in serie a where getting a free-kick within 20 yards is a pretty good chance. in england for example its pretty much irrelevant, since they never score unless the attempt is deflected anyway. refs should be more strict on these things in serie a i think.

    ABSOLUTELY...

If Inter are to be among the chief protagonists for Lo Scudetto then let them too be subject to the scrutiny, because they get a lot calls to (like any other big club in the world)
