Re: Concacaf Player of the Year 2004

Well the whole point is that Beasley has only played a half season in 2004. He's done good, he starts more often than not and when he doesn't he will sub. Out of those 25 you mention I think 2/3 are starts? So you have a player that's played half a season for a about 3/4 of the available time? That means for 2004 Beasley has played maybe 3/8 of all possible minutes. That's what I mean by not enough games to compete with Marquez' record.

I'm a DMB fan and I'm not particularly fond of Marquez but the fact is that the Mexican has gone from a sometime starter in early 2004 to the absolute owner of his position. 20 starts out of 23 games in 2004/2005. Besides we all know that Barcelona plays in a better league and has a lot of great players going after Marquez' spot.

Sort of, he's actually started 23 of 26 games and he subbed in for one game.

I think that without question Rafa Marquez had the best year in 2004, no one else comes close. Donovan, Beasley, Guevara, Lozano had good years as well, but Marquez to be fair is the most accomplished player from our region.

I put Wanchope under ManCity, because didn't he play there for the majority of 04 and have more success there anyway? This pool has absolutely nothing with what they've done in 2005.

Yeah, it's not like DMB is playing great and scoring a bunch of goals for a big club in knock-out phase of CL or anything. Yeah, this is Marquez in a walk.

Yeah it has to be rafa marquez, hes the one that deserves this the most. hes playing for arguably the best team in the world, starting, and scoring goals; eventhough hes a defensive mid, or center defence. Easy one for Rafa to take.

DMB is a sub for a good team that plays in a horrific league. and many of DMB's goals are against the more horrific of his opponents...

He has 11 goals so far. But i think this is rafa Marquez award, maybe even KIKIN or Jaime Lozano. It could also be Ruiz i mean he took guate to the hex for th first time ever. DMB or Cherundulo. It depends for what cause marquez for baraca this year but hasnt needed to do much with mexico cause of all those carribean countries. Ruiz did ok in MLS but did good in WC qualifying. its really hard to say but probably marquez is first on the list but you never know.
