    Deportivo Saprissa wins UNCAF Quadrangular 1 Central Zone qualifying

    Deportivo Saprissa of Costa Rica won the Union Centroamericana de Fútbol (UNCAF) Quadrangular 1 Central American qualifying for the 2004 CONCACAF Champions Cup after defeating Diriangén FC (NCA) 5:0 at the Estadio Cacique Diriangén in Ciudad de Diriamba, Nicaragua on Sunday.

    It looks like Alajuelense beat Boca, since they are now listed for the third Quadrangular. Does anyone know if this match was even played, or did Boca forfeit?

    LD Alajuelense (CRC) and CD Marathón (HON) opened the Quadrangular 3 Central Zone qualification, to the 2004 CONCACAF Champions Cup, with victories over CD Olimpia (HON) and San Francisco FC (PAN), respectively at the Estadio Francisco Morazán in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on Wednesday.

    Alajuelense got two goals from Rolando Fonseca in the 4th and 11th minutes, while Juan Manuel Cárcamo had the only tally for Olimpia in the 50th minute in the 2:1 final.

    In the other encounter, Marathón blanked San Francisco FC 5:0 as Denilson Costa scored three times (32’, 60’, 76’), while José Pacini (31’) and Emil Martínez (40’) added one each in the victory.

    UUUFFF que mal el Olimpia, en vez de leones parecen gatitos!! jejeej... no salio tan malo el equipo panamenio. Por que esta jugando tan mal el Olimpio o fue pura mala suerte? Alajuela no esta pasando por su mejor momento y en realidad me sorprendio que fuera a Honduras y se trajera el primer puesto.

    Saprissa, LDA, Comunicaciones y Municipal son los clasificados a la siguiente ronda. Como ya los equipos guatemaltecos organizaron una cuandrangular probablemente la cuadrangular final sea realizada en territorio tico.

    2003 UNCAF Final Tournament to take place in Los Angeles, California USA

    The 2003 Unión Centroamericana de Fútbol (UNCAF) Four-Team Final Tournament will take place at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California USA on 19 and 21 December.
    The UNCAF tournament will qualify three Central American clubs to the 2004 CONCACAF Champions Cup.

    In a battle of Costa Rican clubs, Deportivo Saprissa (UNCAF QUADRANGULAR 1 WINNER ) meets LD Alajuelense (UNCAF QUADRANGULAR 3 WINNER) on Friday, 19 December at 18:00, while the second encounter will feature a Guatemalan intra-league match-up with CSD Comunicaciones (best second-place team from all three UNCAF QUADRANGULARS )facing CSD Municipal (UNCAF QUADRANGULAR 2 WINNER ) at 20:00.

    The winners will advance to the 2003 UNCAF Championship Game on 21 December at 16:00, while the losing teams from Friday will battle for the final Central Zone berth to the 2004 Champions Cup at 14:00.
