Chievo's third loss in a row, 1-0, at Brescia. This is what most people were expecting from the post-Del Neri Chievo.

Chievo hosts Livorno in today's early match with fitness doubts and transfer rumors hovering over several players

Midfielder Roberto Baronio is a real doubt for this match. His recent form has him rumored to be on his way to Milan to play a back-up role to Andrea Pirlo. His fellow midfielder Andrea Zanchetti and forward Federico Cossato are also hurt. Cossato is being sought by his former coach Gigi Del Neri and could be headed to Roma. Meanwhile, young defender Alessandro Potenza has arrived on loan from Inter (he had been on loan at Parma).

    Projected lineup vs Livorno:

Marchegiani; Moro, Mandelli, D'Anna, Lanna; Semioli, Sammarco, Brighi, Franceschini; Tiribocchi, Pellissier.

Mensah is playing in the midfield instead of Franceschini. Potenza is on the bench. The field is frozen. I smell a 0-0.

No 0-0 after all. Chievo has taken the lead after 31 minutes through Tiribocchi.

And that goal holds up - Chievo gets the win, their first in 6 games, jumping (at least temporarily) 4 spots up in the table.

Following the team's steady fall down the table into the relegation zone, La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Chievo has fired head coach Mario Beretta. No word yet on who will take over on the bench for the Flying Donkeys for their crucial last three games of the season.

Assistant coach (and ex-Chievo captain) Maurizio D'Angelo will be coaching the last three games...
