Yedlin off after 18 minutes. Victim of circumstance, I guess. Total overhaul on the fly for Big Sam. Welp - I'm done.

Didn't see the first 9mins but Yedlin was poor on the ball, two turnovers, and made himself the option to pull off to change the formation.

Injury? Not watching but saw this live text:

    19'
It's time to substitute. DeAndre Yedlin (Sunderland) can't go any further and leaves the pitch. Jack Rodwell (Sunderland) is taking his place

This. Definitely a tactical sub, but it never bodes well when you're the one off after 20 minutes. He had a couple of poor touches. Clearly second choice at right back behind Billy Jones, though.

yes and no … Yedlin playing right wing in a 3 - 5 - 1 and Watford adjusted well.

    Big Sam clearly prefers Jones at right back in a 4 - 4 - 2 or 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 and not Yedlin.

that would mean Big Sam only really trusts him attacking in a wing role and not defending reliably.

Wonder what this means long term for Yedlin - certainly is not good.

It is never good to get removed for non injury after 17 minutes and your team is down 1 to nil.

This is a realllly important match for Sunderland and they were being completely overrun. Big Sam must be proactive, can't wait 'til halftime to make adjustments. Sucks for Yedlin, but he was the obvious choice to take off.

Well that sucked. Those 2 turnovers sealed the deal, in that if he was dominating in the first 15' then it would've tough to take him out. For sure a tactical sub, and probably a tough one for Yedlin to swallow.
