65' Keane caught offside (barely) on the through ball 69% possession to Spurs in the last five minutes!
i am reading as well..working on sat morning in the home office but looking for the pbp..thanks for doing this..Kansas City in HOUZE
But not before I complement Halsey on another fine decision. Arsenal appeal for a backpass to Kellerbut Halsey rules it unintentional (correctly in my mind). Goal to Arsenal. Keller's initial fine save on Henry rebounds to Pires who finishes well.
Always appreciated, and always a pleasure to provide it. And that's information over post counts, mind you. 69th min. -- Keller being jeered by the Highbury crowd, who felt that there should have been a backpass violation called. 69th min. -- Pires levels, at 1-1. after Keller can only parry Henry's initial shot on the breakway into Pires' path. Nothing Kasey could have done-- and in fact, a true reward for the Gunners after enjoying a massive edge in possession for the match.
No worries, my pleasure. Starting to fade a bit, but I think I can hold out for another 20 minutes ot so. Great work, by the way. 72nd min. -- Konchesky's shot from 30 yards well over the top of Lehman's goal. Sub for Spurs, Konchesy off for Mabizela.
My thoughts exactly. Keller aside, I've been somewhat sympathetic towards Spurs today, hoping for them to end their Arsenal and Highbury win droughts. 75th min. -- Henry's pass just misses Bergkamp at the far post, with Keller apparently at sea at the near post.
79th min. -- 2-1, Arsenal. Cruel justice for Keller, who is caught advancing as Ljungberg's shot caroms off of Carr and into the back of the net.
Keller and Tottenham deserve much better than this. 82nd min. -- Gardner with a long run up the middle of the park, but can't do it all himself. Zamora on for Postiga, as Spurs make their second sub. Edu for Kanu for Arsenal, their 3rd sub. Rohan Ricketts comes on for Spurs, the final sub, on for Dalmat.
Arsenal doing a great job of maintaining possession in the late going, which doesn't do Spurs any favours, obviously. Three minutes added on...
Full time. ARSENAL (0) 2 Pires 69 Ljungberg 79 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Anderton 4 For Spurs fans, this one has to hurt more than other losses-- not just against their North London rivals, but the manner in which it happened. Would seem that Keller can't be blamed for either goal. Right place & right time for Pires, and the most fortunate of defelctions on Ljungberg's goal. Keller, however, did manage to keep Tottenham's lead intact with some good saves and organisation of his defence.
Thanks to both the PBP guys. I read the thread after the game had ended but felt like it was live. Great job to both of you. Sounds like KK did all he could be luck was on Arsenal's side today.
No kidding? Spurs allowed Henry to walk in alone on Keller and when he stoned Henry on the 1-1, the defense let Pires cleanup the rebound. It was a point blank save, one of Keller's best. The second goal was just a luck deflection. On his form today, Keller is playing the best of the US goalkeepers, though with Howard's lack of action is hard to judge.
Keller was terrific today - goals were not his fault in the least. First came after a great save on Henry - Pires tap in. Second was a total fluke - wild deflection. Only issue Keller had today was a challenge on Henry that would have seen Kasey sent off (if Henry had been onside). Overall, Spurs supporters and David Pleat will regain a bit of confidence in him.
Keller played quite well today. Solid, no mistakes. Made a couple of teriffic saves. Goals were not his fault. He distributed really well, a couple of his long balls looked quite dangerous (though that might have also been a function of Arsenal's dodgy defense today). All in all, a good day for Keller.
