True. And to be fair, I only watched the first few minutes (until after the 2nd goal). I just couldn't get over the number of errant passes and give-aways. Moreover, the last game I watched was Arsenal / AC Milan...not a fair thing to do to myself.
Goals: Ryan Johnson (Toronto) 12th minute Luis Silva (Toronto) 17th minute Mike Magee (Los Angeles) 29th minute Landon Donovan (Los Angeles) 88th minute (somebody threw a beer can at Beckham and he got revenge by taking the corner kick that led to the tying goal) Toronto 2-2 Los Angeles (final)
1-fantastic audience 2-perhaps a little better disposition on the field from toronto, better players in la galaxy 3-thrilling game, with goals and fair play 4-no doubt mls is improving- a lot 5-galaxy`s goalkeeper is not very good, and rback defender also expect a fantastic match in second leg
I understand the return leg in LA at Home Depot Center will only have an audience of 7500 fans due to agreements with the school it is near? What is the deal with that? Why wouldn't LA move the game to another facility?
Hey, they're 3rd, 3 points behind 2nd. I know, comments were a bit harsh...went into the game all happy and optimistic, but was disappointed quickly. I'll get back in the MLS groove, just give me some time.
allowing fans to continuously throw anything on the pitch = embarrassing/disgraceful for Toronto and MLS
The HDC is on the campus of Cal State Dominguez Hills. The stadium & the school share parking lots. The agreement made before the stadium was built was that any mid-week games during the school year would be capped for attendance to insure the students (did I mention it's a commuter school) will have enough room to park for their classes. If you notice the schedule since the HDC was built, all midweek home matches for LA are during the summer months. No one thought about CONCACAChamps matches back then. They are working on alternative parking solutions but for now, until the demand for tickets to mid-week matches in March is great enough to warrant change, don't expect there to be much. If the phones at the ticket office were off the hook for the match, they may have moved the match, but where? The Rose Bowl has a limit on the number of events it can have and the Colosseum just sucks. The baseball stadiums have dirt infields.
I guess we are lucky Skydome had enough parking for 45,000 people. The irony is that even with 7,500 at HDC, they will likely have more cars parked at the stadium than we did with 45,000. Even at Exhibition, when there's no parking available (CNE, etc.), TFC does just fine. Seems an odd excuse ... ... though I wonder what type of University needs so much parking in the evening!
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe the 7,500 are sold out yet. Have to go with TFC here. Much better for the competition. Looks like the Galaxy will only get a crowd if the other team brings fans. The last thing the CCL needs is a final with capped attendance. What an anti-climax after the first leg.
If Toronto advance, would they use BMO field or the Skydome (sorry, I prefer calling that instead of the Rogers Centre) for the semifinal and final?
I can't swear by this but I seem to recall hearing that if we made it to the semi-final, it would be at BMO.
I don't know if anybody thought of this but MLS teams will always be at a disadvantage because their not warmed up like mexican teams.
It is either that or the other one is "they are not well rested".... But isn't Toronto in the "not yet warmed up" MLS? /p
