San Diego on short list for MLS expansion in 2005 - San Diego Union-Tribune I was hoping for 2004-- but it's probably a lot better logistically if Vergara waits until 05. We've had too many half-assed attempts in MLS when we've seen that a consistent committment and a fair amount of time is necessary to sell tickets.
Too true. Can't wait til the next expansion. But then again, better to take the time and get it right, and all the pieces in place, rather than having something which doesn't or won't work as part of the MLS model, something which we'll all be stuck with.
From the LA Times article: "Blazer said the United States and the confederation's top five qualifiers from 2002 will not begin qualification for 2006 until Feb. 18. The region's lowest-seeded 22 teams will begin the process on Jan. 17/18 and Jan. 21, the first two qualification dates." This doesn't sound consistent with what CONCACAF has previously announced. We may have to wait until December 5, to find out for sure.
Unless the January dates are home-and-home between the other two teams in each 3-nation group....to get that out of the way.
I'm pretty sure that the L.A. Times article mis-interpreted the information, based on the original release from the USSF's relaying the schedule and format of World Cup qualifying via CONCACAF. http://www.ussoccer.com/news/fullstory.sps?iNewsid=44167&itype=113&iCategoryID=61 But then again, what would CONCACAF be without a little confusion?
That sounds exactly like what the LAT article is saying. Makes sense considering that the January dates are not FIFA dates, and that the top 12 seeds are more likely to have players in Europe.
Re: big blow for revs Egads. Bad news for player, obviously-- as well as the Revs, and to some extent, country as well. Taylor Twellman has my sympathies, since I went under the knife a couple of days ago myself, with a knee scope. TT, here's to you... misery loves company.
