Cousin makes it 2-0. Beasley finds Hutton, who finds Cousin, who buries it.

What a ball by Cousin. Nice first touch by Beasley, and good composure in front of goal. Very nice.

    Guardian again:

51 min GOAL!!!!! THIS IS SENSATIONAL!!!!!!!!! Lyon 0 - 3 Rangers. Cousin spots Beasley one-on-one with Squillaci and welts the ball forward towards him. It's a great ball which lands at his feet, allowing the American to scoot clear towards Vercoutre, draw the keeper out, and sidefoot calmly into the bottom right corner of the net. He runs to the touchline and stands laughing hysterically, and no wonder. Lyon are awful. And Rangers are playing brilliantly. The Stade de Gerland is no longer deathly quiet; the whistles are deafening. Perrin out?

What is scary is Rangers have 4 shots on goal and 3 goals vs. 16 for Lyon. Cruel game.

what a fantastic goal. great first touch at absolute full velocity, with an excellent finish. Here is what I dont get, Beas is fast and can score and plays well defensively, why would Liverpool not have at least given him a look? They need speed on the outside, love defensive minded players and have American owners.

Right now, Beas is making a strong case for the best US player of the year.

A long ball controlled wonderfully by Beasley puts him alone on net before he tucks it away. Keeper was a bit indecisive, and probably should have come out long before.

He was probably viewed as a Man City reject at that point, even though he was one of their best players down the stretch.

He doesn't play for Spain and Liverpool isn't in the habit of buying Man City rejects?
