Too easy from this side of the world, but I'll try hard and resist making any jokes about our Kiwi neighbours and their sheep. Bay Area articles roundup (on the nil-all draw between the Earthquakes and the Rapids)... San Jose Mercury News: http://www.bayarea.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/6989196.htm That's all for that match's coverage, though. For today's USA v Canada match in the Women's World Cup, both the Merc and the Oakland Tribune are running different AP articles. LOL nothing really. Any other day I wouldn't care. However, today is the day that Texas sends The Sooners back to the steaming pile of crap that is Oklahoma with their tail firmly between their legs after a Texas-sized whoopingin the Red River Shootout. I just wanted a title to start the early celebration of this. 35-20 Horns.
kpaulson and mtmike: Thanks you've filled the vacuum left by Jim. Our Saturday and Sunday are complete with your early summaries... Republic of Texas is grateful to you...
from the LA Times. ... funny the tone of that article is amazing, or the tone coming out of the WUSA camp. I kind of have the view of 'Show me the money,' " said Marlene Bjornsrud, general manager of the San Jose CyberRays. it seems like all these women feel they're owed something...
What do you expect when their battle cry for so many years is "We're being repressed!" Now they want their 40 acres and a mule.
Here's the money: League expenditures in 2003 were $35.6 million, with $15.7 million in revenue, for a loss of $19.9 million. In 3 1/2years of operation beginning in 2000, the league recorded losses of $101.6 million.
Well, next Saturday I can't do this. Leaving the house at 6:30 am for a marching band contest. then in 3 Saturdays I can't either, cause that's district band auditions. But 2 Saturdays from now, I got your back again. ;D
The ESPN show Pardon The Interruption had a brief mention of MLS at the end of the show on either the 8th or 9th. I was at work, so I only saw the title, which was something like 'MLS ponders expansion', did anyone catch what Kornholio and Friend said?
sorry, got my year confused on the UT-OU game. I meant the year 2040. That will be the next time we beat OU. PS. I take back what I said about the steaming pile of dog crap that is Oklahoma. All part of rivalry Saturday. Mike, now I know what crow tastes like. Not nearly as funny as your sig during the last world cup though
Missed it, too. Would be curious what "The Dream Team" of Tony and Mike had to say. We get PTI over here... it airs, and yes, we get it. Thing is, on ESPN Int'l., it just doesn't air every day, so we may have missed it on the 8th or 9th.
I've moved across the river, but still care; and yeah, that was ugly. Oh well, there's always bask...well, next year.
I hope MLS does something to keep women's soccer going as a spectator sport. Obviously they are well justified in ignoring WUSA's call for help. But maybe they can do something with the W-league, maybe have a W-league game prior to some MLS matches?
