Anyone else out there like seeing the old school golfers do well? Tom Watson (at age 59) is tied for first at 5 under at the end of the second round. He won the British Open (had a battle with the Bear Jack Nicklaus) on the same course in 1977. Not bad for a guy who will be 6 decades old in a few months.
I don't think Watson has a realistic chance of winning, but if he does win, it will be the biggest story in the history of golf, hands down, made even bigger by the fact that the world's best golfer missed the cut.
This is insane, a 59 yr. old (almost 60!) leading the Open Championship after three rounds. Even though he's leading by one, I'd still favor one of the others, like Westwood. Still, it's been a great ride and fun to watch.
Wasn't able to watch the last rounds over the weekend (had a project that kept me away from home both mornings) but sounds like it was quite a show. Amazing that Tom was a 10 foot 'tester' from what would have been one of the most historic wins ever by someone at his age.
