    C'MON YOU BLUES...1-0 the Chelsea

Gallas with a peach from a Hasselbaink flick on.

    Crowd going wild.
Loud renditions of "Carefree" drowning out the home support.

    5 mins left.

    3 points????

There it is Sparta 0-1 Chelsea

Not a great performance by any stretch of the imagination.

Lampard and Duff coming on at the half was a good move by Ranieri as the team really uped the game from there.

Maybe he does know what he's doing eh?

    0-1 to Chelsea !!

That's a great result, regardless of the overall performance.

    Great Result!

I saw the goal on the telly, luckily Gallas was in the right place at the right time.

    Bring on those Turks.

    A win is a win

Crespo was disappointing from everything I read, although it is his first game. I'm actually least excited about him of all our new acquisitions.

None of that matters, however, since we now have 3 points from an away game. Maybe now Gallas will be happy.

It also looks like the two Lazio-Chelsea games are going to be less than decisive, since its quite possible both teams will come into the games with 6 points; Lazio won tonight 2-0 at Besiktas.

During the great scouse teams run of success in the late 70's and early 80's they used to win away in Europe quite often.
Even more than that, the win was often refered to as "wining ugly".Today it is called a "professional" win.Of course nobody from scouserland really cared how they won at the end of the day as they lifted trophy after trophy.

*I hasten to add that i don't mean all of their wins were ugly as they played some quality football.

Well any win away from home in the CL is a good win. I guess it is a sign of how the public perception of Chelsea has changed that people expect us to go away and win 3-0.

We looked much better in the 2nd half once Duff and Lamps were on. I hope Mutu is not too badly hurt it looked a horrible tackle in slow motion.

Well if Mutu is the new Z could Crespo be the new S????

Only joking, he made some good runs, got in the positions to score and I am sure it will not be long before he opens his account.

Jimmy continues to show the correct response to the competition. Despite his reputation for sulking he has got stuck in ,he is playing very well, and contributing to the team effort in a way he did 2 years ago when Eidur and himself had such a great year.

Well Saturday is the acid test. Can we win away in the CL and then come back to the bottom side in the prem and get a good result? I can't wait!

    Interesting points there Dr Int.

The new S--well, it could be worse, at least this time we'll have Mutu and Hasselbaink to turn to instead of Flo and an out of sorts Zola.

But, i'd bet a load he'll score more than 3 this year though ;)

Yes inded it will be quite interesting to see what happens at Wolves.
Was it Derby we went to who were bottom and got stuffed last time around?

I thought people would be disapointed in his performance but, to be fair, he made some great runs. I can see how the guy scored a lot of goals. By the looks of it he just needs some confidence and that will come when he puts one in the net. The first one will probably be an ugly one, off his backside, or whatever, but I think they will then start to flow.

We'll just have to wait and see, I suppose.

Oh, I know Crespo is good - I watched him lead the SerieA in goals for Lazio! But I think he's too similar to Hasselbaink, and JFH seems to be in form right now. To wait for Crespo to come around in place of an effective JFH seems like a waste. Plus, I'm not sure how well JFH and Crespo would play together if Mutu can't go.
We'll see against the Wolves, I guess.
