I mean, if M’gladbach beat Inter, which I hope they do, then they are through and Inter have nothing more to fight for while Shaktar would have everything to fight for when they play each other.

So hopefully Inter focus on the league by then and field a B-team so Shaktar can have a better chance at winning.

If they do win and Madrid win as well they are through due to besting Madrid over two legs, right?

True, but still ... they play much better with Valverde on from what I've seen. Plus, Casemiro being out / out of form makes a difference as well. That midfield they played today should get slaughtered by any decent team.

Yes. Tie-breaker is head-to-head and not goal diff.

Valverde is a huge loss IMO. Kroos and Modric have declined a lot so they really need Valverde. Plus Valverde bring more balance so he's more valuable than even a prime Kroos.

Anyway, LPB only needed 1 point in their last two games to advance (most likely) so I'm not getting too excited. They're still in good shape to win the group, in fact. Incredibly the two favorites in this group (Inter and LPB) would still both advance if they win their remaining matches.

Good. Cause that -7 isn’t looking too good if it were goal difference.

The good thing is that last time Shaktar drew against a full-strength Inter. So there’s hope. Especially if Inter crash out of the CL today.

Fingers crossed and let’s go M’gladbach!

I mean, like I said, I’m sure he makes a difference, but he was there when they lost the first time. I don’t remember him either scoring or assisting in that game.

That’s not to say he’s a bad player, just that it’s not a guarantee he would have turned things around for Madrid today.

I think Ramos has more of an impact in that regard.

Madrid have lost so many matches lately I think its safe to say nobody guarantees them a result. Ramos has started in numerous losses this season including both the Cadiz and Valencia debacles.

Anyway, it will be difficult not to root against Inter but I just realized that its better if Borussia M drop points against Inter. Otherwise they have no incentive to beat/draw LPB next week.

    I don't think that's true.

"most likely". I don't see Shakhtar getting a result in Milan.

Probably, but looking at the goals and almost-goals they conceded today I think it’s safer to say that Ramos was more needed than Valverde. Better to secure a 0-0 draw today than a 3-2 loss imo. Just look at the first goal. Varane needs to play in the second division.

Borussia M finally starting to wake up. Could've been down 3-0 by now.

I don't disagree. I think they both need to play for Madrid to be good enough as long as Casemiro, Varane and Marcelo are in such bad form.

I should be used to it by now but it's still a pet peeve of mine.

    M'gladbach usually wear all-white kits.
Inter are famous for their blue/black shirts and black shorts.
Yet both teams are wearing their alternate kits.
    I mean, wtf?!
I know it's all about the dollars and euros but still, wtf?!

If Inter have nothing to play for in the final round I don't see why not.

True. I didn't think of it from that angle. Though Shakhtar were still missing several players through injury/COVID today. Not sure what the status is of those injuries.

So I guess the best possible result is for BM to draw Inter. That way BM has incentive to beat/draw LPB while Inter has nothing to play for against Shakhtar. :sneaky:

So Moenchengladbach had Madrid on the ropes up 2 x 0 and concede a draw. Now they have Inter at home and are losing. Destiny in their hands and I am gonna laugh if they end up not going through.

Ruben Diaz with a spectacular goal line clearance! Only one problem. It was in front of Porto's goal!! :ROFLMAO:

Don't think I've ever seen that before.

With an Inter win here Madrid own their destiny. A win and they are through. With 1 game with a qualification on the line, I think they beat Moenchengladbach. If the game is a draw then they need Shakhtar to lose.

Madrid got a break here. If Inter don't win today, they can't even make it to Europa league. Literally nothing to play in the final game.

This became an interesting group all of a sudden. Even Inter can still go through if they beat Shaktar and M’gladbach beat Madrid. It’s all open now.

Looks like Bayern, Man City and Liverpool are confirmed group winners.
    Porto confirmed as a runner-up.

Yeah, sucks! I saw that "goal" from another angle and even though the BM player jumped away from the ball, it didn't look like the keeper had much chance to save it irregardless. And only barely offside too. So shitty luck!

Then again, if it finished 3-3 LPB would still control their own destiny, but they probably would've had to win next week. And would've been fun to see Conte finish dead last.
