I mean they set themselves up well... but blowing this lead would just be a further embarrassment. Probably would have been better to just finish this game tied to take the pressure off.
I want to say that this series is over, but I think we all know better than that. Return match will be worth watching.
No, go for the throat. I hope they don't give an inch and fight tooth and nail, because they're going to need to put up that kind of effort just to keep it close.
There's no pressure except the pressure they put on themselves. They're going back to New Jersey where they'll play in front of, at best, 8,000 people. That should help, in a weird way.
The past impression of Wright Phillips is that he is very wasteful of chances, that he should have had 40 the year he tied Wondo and Lights Out Lassiter. Tonight it seemed like he was in a lounge chair 35 yards out in a smoking jacket with a stogie in his mouth reading the Times waiting for chances to fall his way. I suspect that neither impression is entirely correct.
Most likely. Look, it’s awesome to get the win and the 2 away goals, but we all know TJ dominated that game. If RBNY sits back and feels good about that game, they’re going to get run off the field at home.
Announced attendance was 11,000. It wasn't that many. They're also only selling tickets on the camera-facing side of the stadium.
I pity that you carry so much hate in your heart. That can't be an easy burden. I hope some day we can have a beer and you'll see that your racist views are misguided.
NYRB made quite a few sloppy giveaways. I figure they clean some of that up in the return leg. They had opportunities to extend the lead on breakaways and just passed the ball right back to Tijuana.
7 out of 11 Red Bulls players on the field right now are from Academy (Lade, Davis, Muyl, Etienne), USL (Valot, Long), or New York metro area (Parker). Pretty cool. #RBNY— Jonathan Yardley (@jtyardley) March 7, 2018 That doesn't count Adams. 8 of the 14 who played have NY connections.
They missed some obvious fouls and cards. Tim Parker had that reckless challenge just outside of the box in the first ten minutes which should have at least been a yellow but wasn't even called. Players were getting hacked down after passing the ball. If the Etienne incident occurred in the first half, the second half would have been out of control.
If the game was played in NJ, we could have had orange ball soccer with the snow coming down in the northeast.
