FWIW it would be impossible to "clear a roster spot" by trading your rights to a non-optioned player, ie, Cruz. Be little different if we traded the draft pick rights to Marcus Tracy (if still valid). Cruz's rights were a tangible asset, but the reality is more like Brian Ching, you're not on my roster, but how much would it be worth to me to have you there. Also, the notion of a logjam being un-jammed by removal of Cruz is a tad odd because down the stretch Cruz seemed to be his favorite, the mercurial Watson his second choice (and they had personality issues that got aired in the press), and Clark basically disappeared for whatever reason. Also, I hear we are recruiting RMs abroad. Which suggests we may in fact be clearing the log jam by sending most/all of the RMs down the stream as driftwood, not just clearing one piece from the pile.
