It sounds like it will work the same as last year in regards to NewsChannel8 & ABC7 and Sinclair's other stations ....... But since I don't know how it worked last year and I need to care for the March 12th game when I'll be vacationing down-state ...... Did/does Sinclair, for out-of-town broadcasts, differ between when games are on Ch 8 vs Ch 7 ??? The 12th game will be on 7.
When Mrs. W and I were camping down at NN Park last summer, we were able to pick up DC United on ASN via our digital over-the-air antenna. Took us by complete surprise. My mother had FIOS in her apartment, but didn't get ASN. If United is playing when we visit her again, we'll definitely check out the over-the-air channels for Sinclair stations in the Tidewater area. I don't know about any Sinclair stations in SW VA. If there are any, you can probably find out on line.
Last year in Hampton Roads, DC United broadcasts were on WTVZ 33.1 in 720p HD, with a 1/2 hour pregame and 1/2 hour postgame. After the expected first broadcast issues, i really enjoyed their broadcasts. I believe the broadcasts were also on WSET 13.2, the ASN channel in Lynchburg/Roanoke in standard definition.
Yeah, that's the one (WTVZ) I found over the air while camping in NN Park. I wonder what the range is on WSET? We do some camping in SW VA, too, and it would be nice to watch a game if we're in close enough proximity to Lynchburg/Roanoke.
They seem to be on cable systems all throughout the area - we'll test it by being down at Douthat State Park for the NYCFC game. No TVs there, but a nice bar nearby in Clifton Forge Or depending on weather we may travel further to watch with other fans.
There is a commercial campground just outside Douthat SP that has cable TV, but we really like the SP campgrounds. If that channel comes in over the air, then that's aces.
I think it depends on where you live. I've gotten NC8 when I lived in Anne Arundel and Howard but not when I lived in Baltimore County.
