Congratulations Germany with your deserved victory. I hope you'll win against Denmark and we win by 2 to Portugal. But on the other hand we have no business in a quarter final or so. And I don't see us winning at Portugal anyway with the level we're playing at the moment.
Also interesting: If Denmark wins by 1 goal against Germany and score at least 3 goals (e.g. winning 3:2, 4:3, 5:4 etc.) then Portugal are DEFINITELY out even if they win 10:0 against the Dutch.
http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/em/startseite/europameisterschaft/2012/1/tabellenrechner.html This says differently. This is all very confusing right now lol.
Rubbish. Germany doesn't care who else advances. It's all about Germany: a) making it into the knock-out stage (Germany hasn't yet made it) b) becoming group-winner c) building further momentum
I too find it amusing how many people have a problem with Germany being an immigrant country. and being at the very heart of Europe (only Russia has more neighbours than Germany, worldwide) that has always been the case, and has always been one of Germany's main strengths. which makes the whole nazi ideology even more idiotic than it already is. Mountbatten is already an English translation of the German original "Battenberg" (Berg - mountain)
Because Kicker doesn't know the rules change: http://www.uefa.com/uefa/management/newsid=1800152.html d) If, after having applied criteria a) to c), two teams still have an equal ranking, criteria a) to c) are reapplied exclusively to the matches between the two teams in question to determine the final rankings of the two teams. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria e) to i) apply in the order given;
FIFA/UEFA/whoever needs to keep this simple.. just use goal difference to decide who goes through, this head-to-head thing, especially in a three way tie creates too many complications. Especially, when a particular score will suit two teams playing and will eliminate another is just silly...
Isn't it Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha? Prince Albert's dynasty? Rather than Battenberg/Mountbatten? We used to export princes. Now we export footballers. Plenty of countries now have players "Made in Germany" on their team. Not that this hurts Germany much. Since those players generally wouldn't have made the German squad and understandably looked for other NT opportunities.
Battenberg/Mountbatten is the titel of the mother of Queen Elizabeth's husband Prince Philip (on his fathers side he was prince of Greece and Denmark but had to resign those when he married Elizabeth). The dynasty of him actually would be of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. The Windsors originally were Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha from Prince Albert thats correct. Tho before that they had a 'german' name too since from George I till Queen Victoria they were of Hanover.
they have to win to guarantee advancing......if they play for a draw and concede a late goal and portugal wins they r probably out baring Goal difference.
Ah, so Prince Charles and his scions are officially Mountbattens? Not Windsors? BTW, just started watching the game with English commentary. Mark Lawrenson said about the two sides: "It's fair to say they absolutely hate each other." What nonsense! This ain't 1988. Clearly this BBC commentator is living in the past. Nowadays players and fans get on marvelously. It's an intense rivalry. But a friendly one nonetheless.
No officially not since the british parliament changed the law how that is handled (like they changed it to not allow catholics on the throne getting a dynasty of german origin on the english throne [instead of letting a catholic Stuart inherit] in the first place, the duke of Hanover was actually 40something in the line of succession after Queen Anne died but still the first protestant ). Charles as the oldest son and Prince of Wales is a Windsor so is Princess Royal Anne as the oldest daughter, they recently changed the law again to allow all children who don't have 'royal titels' (Prince Andrew and Prince Edward) to use Mountbatten. Tho Charles did use on several occasions 'Mountbatten-Windsor'. And no I don't know this crap only because I can't stop myself watching anything 'Royal' . I studied history and find the change in successions and succession law today quite interessting (and I can't stop my self watchig anythign royal jk )
Mark Lawrenson is completely clueless about football outside England. It's a disgrace that the BBC employ people like him (and Alan Hansen, who is even worse).
It wasnt just predictable. Spain is also very predictable they just know how to do it perfectly! Germany blocked everything Netherlands tried from midfield till offense. That was pretty good and I didnt expect that!
Sure, well Battenberg is an extremely famous English cake too! Very nice too A German style cake invented to celebrate Queen Victoria's granddaughter wedding. England is also an immigrant country. And the poster was English. So I found the comment strange knowing our history.
I don't have a problem; on the contrary I am happy that, if they win, the winners will not be German German
Just to chime in on the Germany plays for a draw against Denmark matter: Löw explicitly stated that they very much want to win in order to take first in the group and be able to play the quarterfinal in Danzig/Gdansk, where their hotel is. Many people don't realize the distances between some of the destinations, but the long trips to the Ukraine can be quite wearying, plus all that moving around takes up a lot of time that can be spent better. I also can't imagine that Germany will underestimate the Danes after seeing how they played in the first two games and playing for a draw is always a recipe for disaster. Still hopes he lets Podolski sit out and gives Reus, Schürrle or Götze a chance. It's about time.
Pretty much somes up the tournament for me. ::'( Still hoping for a miracle on Sunday, but with missed feelings. We really don't deserve to advance.
