Didn't see a thread started, and the game is tomorrow. When: Tuesday, October 20th 2009 Where: Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium, Bayamon, Puerto Rico TV: Fox Soccer Channel, 2 am, EST, tape delay Well, we need a draw or better to guarantee advancement. Or Saprissa to fail to beat Cruz Azul at home. Only, they play 2 hours after us, so we have no idea. In MLS, 2 Chivas wins (@Fire, Houston) combined with a Crew loss to NE could deny us the Supporter's Shield, so Robert may to to consider that. It could be decided by Thursday if the Fire win (or even draw), but we have no way of knowing. Ekpo should be ready to go, as he was suspended for DC. Padula, Carroll, and Moreno were rested, and Guille played only 60 minutes. I'd say Renteria would start, but I worry he'll do something dumb again. But we know we don't have to save him for NE, as he can't play. Anyway, I say we run out the first team and go from there, biggest question is who to start at CM beside Carroll (O'Rourke, Moffat, Burns, Oughton, Gaven, Ekpo) and what to do at CB if it's Danny. GK: Hesmer D: Hejduk, Brunner, O'Rourke, Padula M: Ekpo, Carroll, Gaven, Rogers F: Guille, Moreno That's what I'd do, but I suspect Robert goes with Burns instead of Gaven. Especially since we only need a draw, and should be able to control midfield without him.
Re: Crew @Puerto Rico (CCL): 10/20/09 We're going to try to do another 'watch soccer like a pirate' viewing party for this match. Had a good crowd of 30 or so for the Saprissa match that FSC decided to tape delay as well. Hopefully there is a feed. As an aside, why can't FSN Ohio just pick up this match and save everyone some stress? I mean if they can air UEFA champions league in the afternoon sure as hell they could preempt some poker at 8pm on a Tuesday when baseball is over.
Re: Crew @Puerto Rico (CCL): 10/20/09 Good point. Fox obviously has the rights, so i'm sure it wouldn't be hard to show it regionally on FSN and then have the delay on FSC. FSC is obviously making sure that UEFA gets their time in the spotlight. 8 PM ET - Live CCC game. 10 PM ET - Delayed UEFA CL game which was live on FSN (or other regional sports channel.) Midnight - UEFA CL highlights 12:30 AM - Fox Soccer Report 1:30 AM - UEFA CL highlights reair 2:00 AM ET - Crew game Well, hey, it's FSC's loss. Here's what i'd do: 8 PM ET - Live CCC game (with other one on FSN, if possible.) 10 PM ET - Other CCC game. Midnight - UEFA CL highlights 12:30 AM - Fox Soccer Report 1:30 - UEFA CL highlights I can't think of any earthly reason why FSC would want to air a game on delay which was aired live on basic cable other than "they want to, because they paid all that money."
Re: Crew @ Puerto Rico (CCL) Gaudette's most likely out, team hasn't played a competitive match in over two weeks, no one knows who's still in the team. 0-0 and the Crew lose mightily in the quarters. Book it.
Re: Crew @Puerto Rico (CCL): 10/20/09 Where's the pirate viewing party? Sorry about forgetting the poll. I usually don't start these (and now you can see why).
Re: Crew @Puerto Rico (CCL): 10/20/09 FS Ohio won't show it because there is a Blue Jackets game at 9:30
http://blackandgoldstandard.com/?p=2334 Field looks in great shape compared to the last time we saw it where it looked like a swamp.
I'm not taking anything for granted, but should we actually score a couple goals for crying out loud and advance, am I right that the quarterfinals are not until March? And that they are two-leg aggregate goal format?
I am not seeing any complaints from Rogers: http://twitter.com/robbierogers I am really hoping that Gaven plays the middle with Carrol.
Is the game even going to be shown live anywhere? I don't see any thing about it in the usual places.
Or even Ekpo. I know it leaves us thin on attacking options off the bench in midfield (actually, we'd have none), but with the trouble we've had scoring, I prefer our more creative players out there for longer. Of course, tonight we only need a draw, so I'm not holding my breath.
Perfect timing on the part of FSC. Dedicated Crew fans can watch the Blue Jackets face Calgary IN Calgary, puck drops at 9 pm EST, then step outside to wake up a bit in the fresh cool air and watch the Orionid meteor shower, then back inside for the 2 am Crew game, then up at 6 am for work. NO PROBLEM!
Read up a bit, there will be a viewing at the normal Crew Union pub... atdhe.net currently has a link for tonight's match at 8pm, hopefully that works. Also trying to confirm with Drew he'll be bringing his laptop again with the hdmi out (he previously said he would)
Drew sounds like he'll be able to make it, will confirm with me this afternoon. Would still like to have a backup, anyone have a laptop with hdmi out in the area willing to volunteer? Casa de Pain will get your first pint.
