At this point, it's probably just giving him a reward for the brutal work he put in during his recovery. It wasn't easy. Think about it: being injured, no hope of playing this season, difficult rehab, all while trying to do this away from family and friends north of the Artic Circle. He'll be back next season.
Bodo/Glimt survive the season in top flight, barely, coming in one place above the relegation spots. Valentin played last 5' today! #USMNT— Joe Gould (@twelfthyank) November 9, 2014
Happy to play my first 90 minutes in a veryyyy long time. Good 2-1 win against Rosenborg but a long way to go in preseason! #heiaglimt— Zarek Valentin (@ZarekValentin) February 12, 2015
Went 90 in season opener against Sandefjord: http://www.espnfc.us/gamecast/statistics/id/418573/statistics.html
On the bench for the next 2 games, home losses to Molde and Odd: http://us.soccerway.com/matches/201...allklub-bodoglimt/molde-fotballklubb/1975005/ http://us.soccerway.com/matches/201...odd-grenland-ballklubb/1975013/?ICID=PL_MS_06

Looks like it could be a long season for Bodo/Glimt. In spite of playing a long stretch 11-on-9 today, they still failed to get a point, losing 2-1. The good news is that Zarek was credited with a "sassy" assist on BG's goal. Zarek went 90. Danny Cruz came on at halftime.
http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...n-hits-wonder-goal-winner-az-edge-closer-euro Around the Tippeligaen, Danny Cruz put in a solid 62-minute shift and Zarek Valentin came on for the final seven minutes as Bodo/Glimt fell 5-3 to visiting Stromsgodset. Despite his efforts, Cruz – on loan from the Philadelphia Union – had an early shot deflected just wide and an early second half set-up nodded inches to the wrong side of the post. Valentin, meanwhile, made the final error on Stromsgodset's capping goal play by muffing a clearance. Winless Glimt remain stuck in the basement through seven rounds.
Huge win today for Zarek & Co, 1-0 over first-place Rosenborg. As a result, B/G exits the relegation zone. Zarek went 90, Cruz DNP on the bench
Another win today, 2-1 over Mjondalen, the only time I saw Valentin on the highlights was shouting at his teammates in the wall who split apart allowing the other team to score a FK goal. Cruz (B/G) and Bernstein (Mjondalen) each played 27 mins off of the bench.

B/G won its fifth straight today, 1-0 over Aalesund. Zarek went 90, Danny Cruz with a late sub run. Impressive turnaround after the team's poor start to the season.
Just saw the highlights, and Zarek had a big day: Only one actual assist, but it was a very impressive one: a terrific half-volleyed cutback on a ball that looked like it was destined to go beyond the endline A secondary assist on an early cross above the 18 A cross of his set up a headed shot that was blocked, and the ball was put in on the rebound
http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...shock-bodoglimts-zarek-valentin-finds-happy-h After his January 2014 arrival from the Montreal Impact, Valentin suffered a torn Achilles three games into his tenure in Bodø, a town of about 50,000 people located just inside the Arctic Circle. In a way, the recovery period helped turn the charming place into a home over time.
Went the distance in a 2-1 road loss to Viking on Saturday. He picked up a yellow card in the 83rd minute.
Played 90 in today's 3-1 win over Sarpsborg: http://www.espnfc.us/gamecast/statistics/id/433578/statistics.html
The Tippeligaen wrapped up on Sunday and here is a group report on the Yanks in action: Alex De John, started, played 90 Ethan Horvath, started, played 89, 3-0 Molde win Cole Grossman, started, played 90 Erik Hurtado, entered in the 86th A.J. Soares, started, played 1st half Rhett Bernstein, entered in the 90th Zarek Valentin, started, played 87 Danny Cruz, entered at half, assist Mjondalen has been relegated. Start will play in the relegation playoffs. Regular season goal scoring for the Yanks: Bernstein - 5 Grossman - 4 Cruz - 2 Hurtado - 1 Valentin - 1 Horvath - 17 appearances, 14 starts, 6 clean sheets With that record, I recommend more marginal MLS prospects take a look into heading to Norway next year.
An update from Seltzer http://www.noshortcorners.com/2015/12/valentins-day-approaches.html There will be more goodies on the way soon, but we will start with free agent right back Zarek Valentin. I can confirm he has both a fresh extension offer from Bodø/Glimt and a snatch-him-away offer from another Tippeligaen side (I have this identity narrowed down to two, so bear with me a little longer). He also has interest from MLS, but they are kiiiinda dragging their feet on this one. It seems as though this one could be resolved before too terribly long.
