From The Snowman (performed by Peter Auty who, according to Wiki, was 13 at the time) - "Walking in the Air"
Lots to C here - Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash and lots more singing "Children Go Where I send Thee" Fun clip.
I Believe In Father Christmas- Greg Lake Probably my all-time fave as an adult. I try to post it every year...
Awesome - makes me really glad I didn't post the Farting Elves when I thought I might. G now . . . Thurl Ravenscroft singing "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch"
I Saw Three Ships- Sarah and Michael Bowman Not sure about the wisdom of hauling acoustic instruments from a warm house to a cold porch (that's how I broke a frisbee... now you can say you know someone who's broken a frisbee), but it's their money
And now The Beatles goofing off and singing part of "Good King Wenceslas" (and a version from Loreena McKennitt, whose voice I've long liked)
Avoided the temptation of posting Dean Martin's "Let it Snow". Was going to also resist the Bing Crosby/David Bowie's "Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy" temptation and post, instead, Vince Guaraldi's "My Little Drum"; however... According to Wiki: This track was recorded on September 11, 1977 for Crosby's then-upcoming television special, Bing Crosby's Merrie Olde Christmas. I did not remember that Crosby passed away 5 weeks after the recording. I remember watching the special when it originally aired; I was in my early 20s. The song began; and at the very moment I was thinking, "Why is Bowie singing with that old-timer?" my dad says, "Who the hell's that kid thinking he's going to sing with Bing Crosby?" It was the perfect generational moment.
Not sure how this became a Christmas song (I guess just about any song about winter becomes one by default), but any excuse to watch a Dean Martin/Frank Sinatra clip is a good excuse. "Marshmallow World"
N is for one of the early YouTube breakthroughs, this called "No Christmas For Me" from a Malaysian singer named Zee Avi. It was found, she was found, word spread, and she's got a career now.
I've no idea who or what this really is, but it's sort of weirdly, unsubtly good... "Quest of the Magi" -- Altar Nation
I must post something from the artist who, to me, is the voice of Christmas. It isn't one of the usual suspects, but Gene Autry; thanks to my Dad, the Singing Cowboy is the guy at Christmas for me. And he's the one who first recorded "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer"
(Sorry for the double post, but this one needs to be in the thread) In kick-ass song land, S is for The Sonics singing "Santa Claus"
I can wrap this up if you let me. There are some fun favorites out there still, on my end at least. I like this video - the boys in The Darkness look like they are having a great time - and it's "Christmas Time (Don't Let the Bells End)" from 2003.
