Good luck to William this year in England as he takes his A levels and rejoins Fulham FC’s Academy. Proud of his high academic achievements accompanied by his football journey. Real Madrid's 16-year old Brazilian midfielder André Costa has been invited to play for the USMNT, he has Brazilian and American citizenship. https://t.co/9tYP1fdXC6— Paulo Freitas (@Cynegeticus) August 6, 2018 per LRT, '02 Real Madrid midfielder Andre Costa has signed a professional contract with Real Madrid until 2023. The left footed midfielder has been contacted by US Soccer and seemingly keen on joining the youth teams. #usynt— Joey (@USAprospects) August 6, 2018
Perhaps another case in which BigSoccer's Yanks Abroad Academy helped the USSF become aware of him. Which is great, don't mean to knock the USSF on this.
Why knock them? In the end, they find out about these American players who come from outside the US and then seem to be aggressive in calling them up. They have hired consultants in these countries to track them down.

'02 US-eligible, former IMG Academy centerback Ethan Bayer has joined Rayo Vallecano. Bayer was tremendous during his time in Florida.— Joey (@USAprospects) August 7, 2018 '01 #usynt former Timbers Academy midfielder Lawson Sunderland has joined CE Sabadell FC. Sabadell is in Liga Nacional and will play matched against Barcelona and Espanyol academy sides— Joey (@USAprospects) August 7, 2018
Is Lawson the son of Larry Sunderland. You know, the director of the Timbers' academy? You know shit's bad when the director of the academy is sending his kid to a different club to develop.
I wouldn't say its bad, just that anyone whose being honest, even the directors of MLS academies, would agree its better for a teen to be developed and exposed to training in Europe than at an MLS academy.
No. It's bad. The point of a club's academy is to create players for its own pipeline and benefit. So if a club director is sending his kid elsewhere, it does send a very poor message about the team that he is associated with. That is bad business in nearly any context.
It's more of an indictment on Portland's organization than MLS academies as a whole. They have no desire to play homegrowns/generation adidas players
'01 forward. Don't believe he's ever been capped by Brazil or USA. Milan have agreed to sign 17-year-old Brazilian forward Lucas Ramalho from Brazilian club Clube Nautico for €300K. He will join on a three-year contract with an option for additional two years. Lucas was born in the US [@calciomercatoit] pic.twitter.com/W8UyxUp0VC— Milan Eye (@MilanEye) August 8, 2018
In the Yanks Abroad Academy forum, I've been doing a very deep dive for Mexican-American prospects on Liga MX's website. Here's an '01 goalkeeper registered with the first team of FC Juárez in the Ascenso. ¡Hoy cumple años el integrante más joven de nuestros Bravos! Feliz cumpleaños Marco Canales, y como la canción de los @angelesazulesmx, ¡17 años ya! ¡Felicidades! 👏🎂#SoyBravo🐎💚 pic.twitter.com/v98qRDp6Nf— FC Juárez (@fcjuarezoficial) August 8, 2018 http://www.ligabancomer.mx/cancha/j...dWIiOiAxMDcyNX0=/marco-antonio-canales-lomeli
Some other potentially interesting finds: An '01 who played up almost 1000 minutes with Necaxa U17s as an '02 last year and was one of three Mexican-Americans called up by Mexico U17s to face the US and Costa Rica: http://sub17.ligamx.net/cancha/jugador/125660/cesar-andres-mata-torres An '01 who has over 5600 minutes in Liga Premier, Mexico's third tier: http://www.ligabancomer.mx/cancha/jugador/121513/eyJpZENsdWIiOiAxMDQ4Nn0=/ruben-rodriguez-vega An '02 who was reasonably productive for Toluca U15s last year and played up a little with the U17s: http://sub15.ligamx.net/cancha/jugador/130353/eyJpZENsdWIiOiA3NH0=/fernando-damian-sanchez An '03 who's the youngest player on his team to have debuted in the Tercera Division: https://ligamx.net/cancha/jugador/126797/eyJpZENsdWIiOiAxMDMxNX0=/bryan-romero A late '03 with Club América U15s: http://www.ligabancomer.mx/cancha/jugador/132015/eyJpZENsdWIiOiA3MH0=/kevin-gonzalez-benitez
I meant to say the player at Necaxa, Cesar Mata, is an '02, not an '01. Anyway, I created a thread for each of them and a handful of others too. I'm convinced that our Sagir Arce thread was what led U.S. Soccer to being aware of him and calling him up, so hopefully one or more of these new threads pays off. I doubt U.S. Soccer did the legwork to be aware of most of these prospects playing in Mexico.
Wonder if FCD knows about this? They don't seem to like their players training in Europe unless they APPROVE it. Good for Dante, hope he signs with Villareal.
Dante Sealy is only 15. So he's YEARS away from being eligible to move abroad. Unless he has some Euro passport we don't about....................... Even if he does, he doesn't turn 16 until next April.
Club América actually has three Americans with their U15s. The most interesting one is Ralph Orquin, an '03 who has started all of their matches so far. He appears to be the team's fourth-youngest starter, and is probably a fullback (he's listed as a defender, and he's somewhat small). http://sub15.ligamx.net/cancha/jugador/132017/eyJpZENsdWIiOiA3MH0=/ralph-orquin
