Why do you think I am always attacking the Senate's structure? That is what I expect. Blue in the WH and House, a very slightly red Senate, and gridlock because the red Senators will believe that their voters elected them to obstruct, not cooperate.
That is why a political strategy to just win large cities is going to fail in our political system. Like it or not, you have to win more than half the states to govern.
She is a socialist, ok, so maybe she wants to all private firms, not just tech firms. But It looks like she may lose her seat. Being Seattle, I assume she lost to a moderate democrat and not to a republican. Yikes. Results are not good for the progressives in Seattle. District 4: Shaun Scott is down 42-58 to his Amazon-backed opponent.Dist 3: Incumbent socialist Kshama Sawant is down 46-54 to the Amazon candidate.Dist 1: Incumbent Lisa Herbold tied 51-48 with Amazon opponent— (political) Purity Tester (@WAProgressive) November 6, 2019
Tired of winning? ...Va Dems won one of the last disputed seats. Now have a healthy 55-45 majority. With a 26-vote lead, Nancy Guy, D, claims victory in VA House race in Virginia Beach over Chris Stolle, which if it stands would give Dems a 55-45 majority. Four years ago, Rs had a 66-34 majority in the House of Delegates.— Trip Gabriel (@tripgabriel) November 9, 2019
@ceezmad, Sorry to piss on your parade mate, but your favorite socialist may have won in Seattle. She is up by 3.6% now. In addition, only one of the Amazon sponsored candidates won. . Kudos to Sawant. She is pretty formidable. Beyond that though, it is also a rebuke on Amazon and the large corporations in Seattle for dumping big money to beat the progressives there. 1193096717844934656 is not a valid tweet id
Elections have consequences. Well done Virginia. History in the making. What an amazing day for Virginia: Eileen Filler-Corn is chosen as the first woman and first Jew to serve as state House speaker, and Charniele Herring is chosen as the first woman and first African American to serve as majority leader https://t.co/6b2BKMgOCl— David Nir (@DavidNir) November 9, 2019
Louisiana runoff election is Saturday. Early voting showed high AA turnout, which is a good sign for the incumbent governor Edwards (D).
Indeed. Turnout for AA was 25% higher in the Baton Rouge area over the first round. Hope Edwards wins.
Results in La for the Governorship are tight so far. Bel Edwards seems to have a good shot though since there are a lot of votes still out in NOLA. 1195905744157237249 is not a valid tweet id here are the #lagov odds https://t.co/TPIdxXGNjb pic.twitter.com/jXlDn5E98E— Political Alert Engine (@palertengine) November 17, 2019
That is it.....An other loss for El Douche..... I've seen enough. Projection: Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) has defeated Eddie Rispone (R) to win a second term. #LAGOV— Dave Wasserman (@Redistrict) November 17, 2019
That is what I a seeing in Twitter. I am sure dear leader is going to tell us how he hardly knew the guy.
Watching the returns come in (I voted against the reep secretary of state, but I must admit the office's website is very good), the results really showed the urban/rural divide. Rispone, endorsed by the orange shitgibbon and the duck dynasty guy, won big out in the country. But Edwards won New Orleans by 100,000 votes, getting 90%. That is phenomenal - New Orleans is majority white, after all. He also got 65% in Baton Rouge and 58% in Shreveport, and even won the New Orleans suburbs (David Duke country). One exception was Lafayette - Cajun country seems to have turned republican. But I think the bottom line is that Louisianans are not quite as stupid as others may think. They actually understood that what t-rump was saying about Edwards was a bunch of lies, and voted for good government. Also, Rispone was a terrible candidate - he literally would not say what he wanted to do as governor. Wanted to have a constitutional convention but didn't say what he wanted to change - no, thanks!
The urban/suburban vs rural divide is very real. We have seen this the last few week in Va, Pa and now La. The numbers in NOLA are simply mind boggling. They are even higher than Wash DC's voting for a democrat for President.
