Totally missed this one -- he's a '98 from Florida who had at least explored opportunities overseas, but then ended up with the Timbers academy. He ended up starting every game for the Hoyas as a freshman and turning in some pretty solid stats for a winning team. Tyler Shaver, a 00 D from NYCFC's academy who was a reserve on the U17 WC team last year, has signed with Stanford. Shaver is the only field player from the U17WC squad to have signed a LOI with a college team. http://gostanford.com/news/2018/2/14/mens-soccer-five-to-the-farm.aspx
The mini spring season has started but there’s not much in the way of news.. UNC is 2-0 after 2, with goals from YNT players Mauricio Pineda (U18 in 2014), John Nelson (U17 WC roster in 2015) and Lucas del Rosario (most recently with the U18s)

Maryland announced its recruiting class today and it includes a pair of players with US youth national team experience. D Alessandro Milesi, a 99 who was in a camp or two in the last U18 cycle and F Brayan Padilla, a 00 from FC Dallas' academy who got some looks with the 17s last cycle. “He has a wonderful feel for the game.”Welcome to College Park, @Ale__Milesi! #FearTheTurtle pic.twitter.com/QjSMqmpf1Y— Maryland Men’s Soccer 🐢 (@MarylandMSoccer) April 20, 2018 There's no twitter link (yet) for Padilla so you'll just have to read this old-school release if you want more info on him. http://www.umterps.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=29700&ATCLID=211712176
Padilla committed to Maryland quite a long time ago. I wonder why it took Maryland so long to officially announce. Maybe Brayan was thinking of other opportunities. https://www.fcdallas.com/post/2018/02/20/signing-night-keep-moving-forward-brayan-padilla Note: Brayan is yet another FCD kid from El Paso affiliate. That pipeline has to be the most fruitful MLS affiliate...............all the way back to Mikey Ambrose.
Yeah, I tend to wait till the school officially announces before I post. Lots of "reported commitments" or rumored ones don't always come to fruition. Often a school waits till it has multiple recruits cleared to play to announce players and even though signing day was in early February, some players have to wait to get officially accepted by the school (academically) or cleared by the NCAA (usually) international players. Or the schools SID is just busy with other sports. Hence the delayed announcements. Here's the tweet announcement on Padilla. Seems like a good prospect. If he's as good as listed, I doubt he sticks around four years. “He is a special attacking talent.” 😎Welcome to College Park, @brayanpadilla_! #FearTheTurtle pic.twitter.com/Ha0K1ev2y5— Maryland Men’s Soccer 🐢 (@MarylandMSoccer) April 20, 2018
Steven Goff checked in with the experimental NCAA spring season: Each team played five matches: two home, two away and one this past Saturday when all sides descended on Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C., for a tripleheader. North Carolina won the championship with a perfect record, culminating with a 1-0 victory over Duke. Virginia and Georgetown each had 2-3-0 records. Clemson was the other participant. The USSF augmented the program with video and match analysis and by assigning national team scouts. On Friday, the six coaches met with USSF youth technical director Tab Ramos and other officials to discuss benefits and drawbacks. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...andards/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.4548a2c30e1a
Another talented kid from the FCD academy just announced a verbal commitment to Maryland. Edwin Cerrillo Truly Blessed and Humbled to announce my commitment to further my education and play D1 soccer at THE University Of Maryland. I’d like to thank God, My Family , Teammates and Coaches who’ve helped me become the player and person I am today, wouldn’t be possible without you guys! pic.twitter.com/OKBTQXumzI— Edwin (@Edwincerrillo) April 27, 2018
The U19 YNT called up a new squad for a tournament in Europe and the roster included three players called up for the first time (at least in a few years), all of whom have committed to play college soccer in the fall: All three are 00s. The first is M Declan McGlynn, who will be going to his hometown Seattle University. Welcome to @seattleu, Declan! pic.twitter.com/i4JzirahkP— SU Men's Soccer (@seattleumsoc) February 12, 2018 Next is Columbus Crew academy M Sean Zawadzki, who has signed with Georgetown. Kyle Holcomb will head from one coast of the U.S. to the other. The No. 34 prospect nationally is a forward from California. Welcome, Kyle! pic.twitter.com/r3hY9ERkFm— Wake Forest Men's Soccer (@WakeMSoccer) February 7, 2018 12 of the 20 players on the roster for this trip have signed LOIs to play college soccer this fall.
Well, apparently he ism in fact, a 99 despite having already played two years of college soccer, as he was called into the latest U20 camp today. Again, he just turned 18 in December and he'll be a college junior this fall.
Besides Haji, two other returning college players are in the latest U20 camp: NC State soph. D/F Manny Perez and Indiana soph. Justin Rennicks. Six incoming freshman are also in the camp: Forwards Franky Amaya (UCLA) and Wilson Harris (Louisville), M Aristotle Zarris (Wake Forest) and D Glademir Mendoza (New Mexico) have all signed letters-of-intent and been announced by their schools. Additionally, GK Seth Steibel (Saint Louis) and F Simon Becher (Holy Cross) have reportedly committed but their schools haven't announced it yet.
With Seth Stiebel called up to the U20 team, Saint Louis University decided to brag about it even though it hadn't yet announced that Stiebel had signed. (That's why you should make these announcements early, kids!) Anyway, this is confirmation that Stiebel has signed a LOI with SLU. http://www.slubillikens.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27200&ATCLID=211715365
Speaking of confirmation, forward Simon Becher, a 99 who has been in two U20 camps this year, including the current one, has surprisingly (from a soccer perspective) signed with Holy Cross. We are excited to announce our incoming freshman class! Read more about them here:https://t.co/BF7i7Qx8hj— Holy Cross Men's Soccer (@HCrossMSoccer) May 10, 2018
Wicked-smaht kids alert: Harvard has announced their incoming class and it includes two kids who got YNT looks the last cycle. https://www.gocrimson.com/sports/msoc/2018-19/releases/20180525ehxy8g Nicolas Garcia, a 00 forward who spent some time in the Atletico Madrid academy system, and Alfred Perez, a 99 forward from Florida are both matriculating to Cambridge. (Harvard also signed a Norwegian kid named Havard because, of course.)
I completely missed this. Tosh Yasuda, who had cups of coffee with USYNTs (was an alternate for the U17 World Cup in 2015], has transferred from SMU to GCU. Tosh was an integral part of a DA championship with FCD, and the coach of GCU is of course Schellas Hyndman. Joining the Lopes from SMU, welcome Tosh! #LopesRising pic.twitter.com/rsFO1EHj47— GCU Men's Soccer (@GCU_MSoccer) May 1, 2018
And Paolo Belloni-Urso, formerly of Genoa, will be a sophomore there. If my son is forced to choose between Harvard and high-level professional soccer, I suppose I will just find a way to support him no matter what he decides.
It's probably time to start a 2018 version of this thread (but I'm too lazy to do it) but 99 Gideon Davis, who has been in some U20/U18 camps the past year or two, is now on the roster at the University of Denver. https://denverpioneers.com/news/201...dds-us-u-20s-gideon-davis-to-2018-roster.aspx
