I thought the opposite. It says the 2003 category. The 2003 category is the U-16's. There are still many 02's in the U-17 team who were not playing in the showcase game. Its a good win by FC Dallas, regardless.
The FCD U19s, U17s, and U13s went on this Mexico trip. The U-19, U-17 and U-13 boys Academy teams have traveled to Mexico for their 2019 preseason.Bookmark this page to see who they're facing and the results.https://t.co/TEtGemYJWq— FC Dallas Youth (@FCDallasYouth) January 30, 2019 It could have been a younger core of guys with the U17s. Who knows. We'll find out more soon.
Based off scraps of info from Instagram, the Dallas lineup that held Mexico's '01 U18s to a draw included: Collodi; Almaguer, Carrera, Burns; Cerrillo, Letayf; Pepi. So a mix of birth years from '00 to '03. Could make decent speculation about the remaining FCD lineup spots but no confirmation. It's quite possible that about half the FCD lineup was younger than Mexico's lineup, which is pretty awesome. '01 RSL homegrown Julian Vazquez started for Mexico.
Yup, little doubt that Letayf drew the attention of the FMF. He's in the U17 Mexico squad along with Santiago Munoz. I'm not sure if Letayf has US citizenship anyway. Efrain Alvarez is missing because he's in camp with LAG. #U17 | This is the team Head Coach Marco Ruiz called up to Training Camp this week! 💪🏼🇲🇽⚽️#PasiónyOrgullo pic.twitter.com/TS0lRLfeMO— Mexican National Team (@miseleccionmxEN) February 5, 2019 '03s Fernando Alvarez and Adrian Gonzalez, both of Pachuca, are in the Mexico U16 squad. #U16 | Head Coach Mario Arteaga called his squad up for this week’s Training Camp! 👦🏻🇲🇽⚽️#PasiónyOrgullo pic.twitter.com/5Ght6YZ0bU— Mexican National Team (@miseleccionmxEN) February 5, 2019 No Ricardo Pepi in either squad.
The FMF knew about Lateyf before Dallas' trip to Mexico The FMF probably scouts FC Dallas better than the USSF does...…………….. Lateyf was born in Monterrey. He's been in the US for about 9 years, but I don't believe he has his US citizenship yet. He did attend a US U15 camp in the past, but I believe he didn't have citizenship then. There's not much we can do here other than hope that he's not selected for Mexico's U17 team in a cap-tying competition this year.
Philip Bogdanov has been called in for the Russian U16s: Congrats to @DCUyouth MF Philip Bogdanov (‘03) (@footskiller10) on his callup to the Russian U16 YNT, for their upcoming Training Camp and friendlies in preparation for the Euro 2019 campaign!#RepDMV x #DMVBred 🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺 pic.twitter.com/05XIg4TIQe— DMV Soccer (@DMVSoccer96) February 7, 2019 His USSDA bio confirming US citizenship: http://beth.ussoccerda.com/sam/teams/index.php?team=1647665&player=78987609
Here's my list of YNT-eligible mostly USSDA players who have most recently represented a foreign YNT but are otherwise based in the USA. I'm almost certainly missing some names, but we can add Bogdanov to the list. Different from the majority of US-eligible foreign YNTers, who are living and playing their club soccer in a foreign country as well (typically the same one). 1997 Collin Fernandez, Phoenix Rising, Peru (been with USYNT) 1998 Abraham Romero, LA Galaxy, Mexico (been with USYNT) Noah Powder, Real Monarchs, T&T 1999 Carlos Avilez, FC Dallas, Mexico (been with USYNT) Justin McMaster, Wake Forest, Jamaica (been with USYNT) 2000 Alessandro Castro, Atlanta United, Honduras John Murphy, NYRB, Ireland (been with USYNT) Tomas Romero, Philly Union, Honduras 2001 Mo Abualnadi, Sporting KC, Jordan Eduardo Blancas, LA Galaxy, Mexico (been with USYNT) Shanyder Borgelin, Philly Union, Haiti Kendall Edwards, Atlanta United, Jamaica (been with USYNT) Kameron Lacey, Orlando City, Jamaica Dennis Miljkovic, Maryland United, Bosnia Jaden Servania, Houston Dynamo, Puerto Rico Julian Vazquez, RSL, Mexico (been with USYNT) 2002 Efrain Alvarez, LA Galaxy, Mexico (been with USYNT) Joshua Francombe, Atlanta United, Wales Tommy Mihalic, Chicago FC United, Croatia 2003 Philip Bogdanov, DC United, Russia Edward Castro, LA Galaxy, Guatemala (been with USYNT) Vicente Reyes, Atlanta United, Chile (been with USYNT) 2004 Andrew Araya, New Jersey PDA, Chile Donovan Palomares, LAFC, Mexico Abel Salazar, Pateadores, Mexico 2005 Alex Alcala, Stockton Rebels, Mexico
02-Maximilian Goggel who was on call for Germany U17 ended up in the squad and played his 1st game for Germany. Playing 17 min in a 3-1 loss to Portugal in a friendly were plenty of regulars were missing.
American '00 Kristian Frroku, of DA Barca Academy, has spent some time with Albanian YNTs. https://www.uefa.com/under19/season=2019/teams/player=250126463/index.html http://grsa.ussoccerda.com/sam/teams/index.php?team=3951740&player=264717133
American '02 NYCFC forward Nicholas Kapanadze calls himself a member of the Georgia U17 national team on his Instagram, which I don't doubt, especially since he has an Instagram story with apparent visual proof, although I'm unable to find an official record after searching. This certainly should be an all-inclusive thread of US-eligible foreign YNTers, but I always find the USA-developed and USA-based ones a bit more interesting, as compared to someone who's being developed and living in a foreign country anyway.
Alejandro Zendejas called up for Mexico's U22s: Mexico’s U-22 squad in camp this week. Interesting to note Alejandro Zendejas is involved #eltrieng pic.twitter.com/5KqtKRVOQz— Tom Marshall (@mexicoworldcup) February 11, 2019
Its interesting. We don't talk about him all that much. Did he actually file a one-time switch to Mexico? [He's only appeared in these sorts of camps for Mexico so far, which wouldn't require him to make the switch.] He seems to at least be in the running for the CONCACAF U23 Championships team. Which is surprising to me as he's only played about 300 minutes this season for Chivas. Am I the only one who thinks he wouldn't be close to a US U23 squad?
Hard to know as FIFA doesn't make them public. I'm guessing he hasn't yet, but would if the opportunity arose.
Dumb question, but is Olympic qualifying/the Olympics a cap-tying event? I assume so, but wasn't certain...
Tom Marshall was listening... Chivas winger and former U.S. youth international Alejandro Zendejas is yet to apply for his one-time switch to be able to play for Mexico at international level, FIFA has confirmed to ESPN FC. http://www.espn.com/soccer/guadalaj...to-make-switch-request-from-us-to-mexico-fifa
Folarin Balogun signs professional contract with Arsenal The highly-rated teenage striker is still eligible to play for Nigeria, USA or England Folarin Balogun has signed his first professional contract with Arsenal on Wednesday. The 17-year-old, who has been on the books of the north London outfit since 10, with 13 goals in as many appearances, is currently the Gunners' top scorer in the U18s this season. "It feels really good. I’ve been at the club since I was young, so I’m just happy that I’ve been given the opportunity to push on," Balogun told club website.
This basically confirms common sense. There's no reason to switch until ... there's a reason to switch. It's easy to say "I'm gonna hang up my U.S. boots" when you sign for Chivas, but what if they'd sold him a year later?
Vicente Reyes of Atlanta United is called again by Chile U17, he received a call with our U16 last year, but apparently decided to play for Chile (at least for now). He has been very recurrent with them although he is not the starting goalkeeper. http://www.anfp.cl/noticia/32531/la...para-intensos-amistosos-ante-japon-y-paraguay
I don't think Reyes is good enough for our U-17's. We have good depth at keeper, and I don't think he's the best '03 keeper either. I don't have a problem with dual-nats playing for other countries, if them staying in our system would require us promoting them to higher age groups than they should play in.
New York-born '02 winger Brandon Cambridge of Vancouver Whitecaps was at a Canada U14 camp in 2015 and a U15 camp in 2017. The Canada Soccer site lists his hometown as Chilliwack, BC in the Fraser Valley. He's played with the Whitecaps first team in preseason.
