It got denied Funny thing is when he made his debut for Spain, he said he never considered playing for Morocco.
99-Noah Verhoeven is in the Canada team for the Toulon Tournament. https://www.canadasoccer.com/canada...or-international-tournament-p161576-preview-1
He can play for Canada. Its not like we need him. Its too bad for Canada that Akinola is cap-tied, otherwise I'd say he should switch. I think he'd have a very good chance of being a full international for them. Of those TFC players on that roster, that Okello kid was excellent yesterday. He must be 6'5 or so, and he has a lot of skill for a big player. Only issue is you wonder if he's too tall to play CM. You pretty much can't be quick with anything you do at that height, and you have to be good in small spaces as a CM. I also liked how Daniels played. I thought he was very good, and he completely outplayed Wheeler-Ominu who is one of the MLS players that played yesterday for Atlanta with the USL team. Dunn wasn't good. He struggled to defend Williams.
Jonathan Gonzalez will be playing for Mexico U21s at the Toulon Tournament. The final roster hasn't been released yet but it's a good bet one or more additional Mex-Ams will be on it. http://espndeportes.espn.com/futbol...que-jugara-con-el-tri-en-esperanzas-de-toulon

It seemed inevitable that Omidiji was going to play for Nigeria. I never got the sense he wanted to play for us.

Scored the game winner today: Correction: Noah Verhoeven on the goal. https://t.co/U3ZXWbNF7n— Canada Soccer (@CanadaSoccerEN) May 31, 2018
The goal: This goal from #VWFC prospect Noah Verhoeven has #CanM21 at the top of their group at the Toulon Tournament. They beat Turkey 1-0 today, drew Portugal 0-0 in their opener. If they beat Japan on Sunday and they win the toughest group in the tournament. Impressive stuff. pic.twitter.com/3W1IPxy7Oa— Mitchell Tierney (@mitchelltierney) May 31, 2018

Good news on the Mexican-American front: '01 FC Dallas left back Julian Hinojosa, who hasn't been with USYNTs since October 2016 and has regularly been part of Mexico YNTs for about the past two years, has joined up with the latest US U18 squad. So has '01 FC Dallas forward Gibran Rayo, who has been part of Mexico YNTs for a while and never with USYNTs. Not players who I was expecting to flip back -- gladly surprised they did. And kudos to the USSF for keeping tabs with them.

Harvard apparently refers to its head coach as the "The Virginia B. and James O. Welch, Jr. '52 Head Coach for Men's Soccer" in official communications. I have no doubt that whatever Mrs. and Mr. Welch did to deserve that tribute, they earned it, but still wow.
#U18 | Head coach, Marcos Ayala, has called his roster to Training Camp ahead of the 2018 Niigata Tournament in 🇯🇵.#NadaNosDetiene pic.twitter.com/h0dOFS93ic— Mexican National Team (@miseleccionmxEN) June 29, 2018 Three Americans on the latest Mexico U18 ('01) squad. Two of them, Hector Holguin and Sebastian Medina, are based in Mexico. The third El Tri callup is forward Julian Vazquez of Real Salt Lake, who was with the US U18s in June. Note no Hinojosa or Rayo, so they may be leaning toward the US now. And then Ochoa and Llanez are the other two '01s previously called by Mexico who clearly prefer the US as of now.
Looks like we lost another one (for now, at least): Congratulations to FCUDA's Tommy Mihalic on his invitation to join the Croatian National Team Camp and Tournament this July & August! pic.twitter.com/MfuZXNSriB— FC United Academy (@FCUnitedDA) July 3, 2018
Was with the US U18s a month ago. He was the second-leading scorer in the U16/U17 Development Academy playoffs. #U18 | Training Camp vibes with @julian14vazquez!! 😁#NadaNosDetiene pic.twitter.com/1P4oL07kpH— Mexican National Team (@miseleccionmxEN) July 3, 2018
Abraham Romero called in for the Mexico U21s: https://miseleccion.mx/convocatoria...entroamericanos-del-caribe-barranquilla-2018/
'03 Tyron Leon Haake in Werder Bremen's academy, who we don't have a YAA thread for but based on our detective work is extremely likely to be a German-American, was called to the Germany U15s in January.
Carlos Avilez was called to the Mexico U20s at the same camp Romero was with the Mexico U21s; it was a joint camp in which they scrimmaged against each other. Notable that Edwin Lara was, again, not called to the U20s. I don't think Ivan Gutierrez nor Alex Zendejas have been called to the Mexico U21s in a while.
Am I wrong in thinking that Avilez would not factor into the US U-20's this cycle? Is he even better than another Mexican-American whose not provisionally cap-tied Eric Lopez? Thats not to say I'd prefer he plays in the Mexican set-up because maybe he turns into a good keeper (like Gonzalez did), but how much playing time would he have gotten with the US U-20's this cycle? More than a camp or two? I would say its unlikely he'd make the qualifying team or the U-20 WC team. Lara is provisionally cap-tied, so unless he's sure about his decision of only wanting to play for the USA from now on, it would seem dumb (for himself) to switch over now. He's not even a regular first team pro yet.
