    Hey everyone,

So, we are finally here! Women's World Cup is beginning already this weekend so thought I would get our group game threads started up. Let's be critical, let's have analysis, but more importantly, let's root for our team to get back-to-back like the Germans did in 2003 and 2007. Here...we...gooooooooo!

I would like to apologize again for overlooking this thread @McSkillz. I'd falsely assumed that the thread for Match 2 wouldn't be posted until Match 1 was over. Let's get some posts going here so my competing thread gets buried.

Or we could leave your thread for those who want to complain about goal celebrations and keep this one for those who like goal celebrations. LOL!

I totally don't mind whichever gets more hits, it's my fault I didn't try and keep them bumped up so others wouldn't create the threads. It's too bad we can't edit the titles and put down three each called "The good, the bad, and the ugly" hahaha

    questions:

    1. do you put becky back in if she is healthy?

    2. if you do, who do you take out?

    my answers:

    1. no

    2. -

like I said in another post, becky's tricky quad may have been ellis' first stroke of good fortune (or genius) this time around.

    1. Yes, because there will be sterner tests ahead, and I don't particularly trust the potential Dahlkemper/Ertz CB pairing. Sauerbrunn is getting old, but she's our best, most experienced defender. Get her involved now, or pay the price when our back line makes an error against France.

    2. One of Dahlkemper, Mewis, and Horan. I'd be tempted to sit Dahlkemper if it means keeping Mewis on the field.

100% my fault. For one thing your identical thread starter for the Thailand match, which I had seen and read, should have tipped me off.

Even having overlooked or forgotten that, I could [and should] have easily scrolled down to check for an existing thread, even potentially one posted since the Thailand game ended earlier that day and somehow demoted by other threads' activity. Instead I simply assumed one hadn't been posted already, and

That responsibility was on me to confirm what I thought before posting; I'm not making that mistake again. You had no obligation whatsoever to keep your threads at the top of the page. If your thread had somehow already been bumped to Page 2, maybe you'd bear some of the blame. :ROFLMAO:

Personally I think I'd wait to bring her in to the Sweden game, but I expect that if she's healthy Ellis puts her in for at least a half against Chile. And to keep Mewis in the game, I might sit Dahlkemper and keep Ertz in the back, but I expect Ellis to sit Mewis.

Maybe the US can really score goals in the match. After all they only scored three in the first half against Thailand.

Ten in both halves against Chile is probably too much to ask for but could we get at least six or so?

    No mercy!!!

Spent most of the day at the Louvre.....Mehhh. Bunch of Sculptures and Paintings of dudes with their junk hanging out.

Would have much rather attended Training......where the real masterpieces were.

Hey there Texas Joe (I mean Jackdoggy). Sorry, I am not in France drinking Champagne with you. But as usual, there are a lot of my Outlaw pals there. At least 10 from Long Beach. I am sure you will run into them. Enjoy your month in Paris.

Heavy squad rotation? Wait 'til Sweden? Not at all? Thoughts?

If I know Ellis, then... wait, I don't know Ellis. Heck, Jill doesn't know Ellis. jk

Nah, I doubt any serious changes to the lineup in this match.
I suspect Chile will play more physical, though.

Ellis barely makes any changes unless she is forced to, much to the annoyance of many of us on BS during the tournaments.

Personally, this is the perfect match to return Becky to the back because why would you wait until Sweden to do it and have her unready? If Chile totally thug out, then take Becky out during the 2nd half I guess but she needs to get her feet wet early on in this tournament so she's 100 percent again by the quarter-finals. She's incredibly important to this team and we need to incorporate her back as soon as possible before our defense truly gets tested.

    1) I say give Becky the first 45 and let Davidson get her feet wet the last 45.... or if Becky's still not definitely 100%, start Davidson.

    2) I think our 4 midfielders are all in great form, so I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Lavelle's definitely the most fragile, so I think she's probably the one whose minutes need to be managed the most. Either sit her to start, or sit Mewis/Horan to start and sub Lavelle on for one of them in the 2nd half.

This shouldn't be a close game, might not be a blowout, but I expect them to have the win sealed up by 60'. I think this is the game that you get as many players in that haven't played yet, just to calm some nerves and give everyone minutes. Maybe not Krieger since she's been there plenty of times, but get some of the rookies in there.

I know it's not a charity, but I thought it was kinda crappy that Engen was the only one that didn't get a minute and Wambach kept subbing in for the last 10' of games we had the lead and needed defense if anything.

I can't blame you. She was the only non-GK on the roster not to see a second of playing time in the 2015 WC. I felt bad for her in that respect.

a late game sub putting in wambach was often for defense - heading on defensive set pieces.

The worst part was/is that the media and commentators bring it up every time they mention Engen's name as being a player on the 2015 WC team.

Why not say she was on the 2015 WC Champion team and leave it at that? Why point out that she didn't play?

I've never heard the media or commentators mention that Rampone (16'), Boxx (16'), Chalupny (10') or HAO (10') all played less than 20 minutes in garbage time when they announce them as World Champions.
