"The reality is, we need quality and talent at almost every position to win" How about we start with quality at the ownership position. Have we tried that yet?
I "love" the fact that the Union are still pushing this whole "PRESEASON IS ALMOST HERE!! GET EXCITED!" angle. We signed Cory Burke, a player who technically was already under Union control since he played for Bethlehem. We have been rumored to be linked to a defender who probably will go to a lower level Bundesliga team rather than us more than likely. Compare that to Atlanta, their target Ezequiel Barco pretty much demanded to be sold to Atlanta and when Independiente set a double the supposed fee Atlanta was going to pay, Barco apparently sat out of training in protest. Man, imagine what it must be like to have a team that good, young, coveted talent WANTS to play for. I'm still totally down on this season. Nothing has been done to improve this team and according to MLS the Union have one of the toughest schedules for the upcoming season. Also, have they even replaced ANY of the coaches that left, i.e. Nikolov and Sorber?
Anyone still have one of those Philadelphia Generals logos handy? One thing that contributes to us having such a hard schedule is that even though we're in the same conference as them, we don't play the Union at all this season. That would be two easy W's for just about any team.

I can't wait to see the creative editing on this arrival video to make it look like people were actually there. Good signing, yes...but this isn't a Drogba, Vela, Giovinco, or Bradley level signing, and if we're being real here: our fans aren't as passionate as Orlando City, Portland, or Atlanta's. Maybe once upon a time, but we're all jaded and no ones going to go, especially a few hours before the Eagle's game. 954705804782919680 is not a valid tweet id
I’m at the airport now. Wanted to get the best spot possible. Can’t believe no one is here yet. It’s only 24 hours in advance.
It’s Monday morning and I’ve been standing in the Arrivals area in Terminal B for 40 hours and counting. Haven’t seen Accam yet but I’m not giving up hope. I just KNOW he’ll be here soon! (Sucks that I missed the Eagles game for this.)
Paused the video a couple of times. My guess is somewhere around 30-50. So, at least all of the remaining STH's went.
I went to the airport with my son. There were about 50-60 people there, including Earnie, Yaro, and a handful of club employees. Accam genuinely seemed surprised and appreciative. After speaking briefly, he signed autographs/took selfies for a few minutes, and then met Earnie who said, "We're really happy to have you here." In general, the fans' welcome was enthusiastic, there was a general "good vibe," and it was a fun hour before the Eagles game.
Given the level of pessimism among Union supporters (assuming that this particular forum is representative of U supporters) I'd say that was a good turn out.
Per Dutch public broadcaster, NOS, Earnie Stewart is one of two candidates to become the new technical director of the Dutch federation (via @JeroenElshoff on Twitter). The following link is in Dutch, but Google translate makes it pretty clear. https://nos.nl/artikel/2214750-hoogma-en-stewart-in-beeld-als-technisch-directeur-knvb.html It's a bit of a kick in the gut to learn that Earnie's ready to bail before seeing his plans through.
JT is reporting he turned them down Here's a report from Dutch broadcaster NOS that the Dutch federation (the KNVB) approached Earnie Stewart about becoming the entity's technical director, but he turned them down as he wanted to stay in the United States. https://t.co/t0tH0j01GN— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) January 31, 2018
Oh, thanks for the info. I don't follow JT and didn't see that. Still seems kind of strange to me that Earnie would be cited as 1 of only 2 candidates unless he himself had taken steps to be considered for the job (even if he ultimately turned an offer down).
From the crappy Google translation: "The KNVB has two candidates IN MIND as technical director...and Earnest Stewart...now technical director at the American football club Philadelphia Union. Discussions with KNVB have NOT YET TAKEN PLACE." All it really says is that the Dutch federation was interested in ES, not that the interest was mutual.
https://www.philadelphiaunion.com/p...-new-york-red-bulls-first-preseason-scrimmage How is it possible they don't know which one of their players scored their second goal?
