Have you seen their financials???? They're not exactly in a position to GIVE money away at this point....
Lol yes.. all too familiar with the flux they are in. That said, even with them hemorrhageing money they still have a big budget, are a national company with a lot of big brands, and aren’t strangers to leveraging sports for their advertising. I don’t think the play would be totally crazy. Soup season doesn’t line up great with the MLS schedule though... change the calendar!!!!
That was weird...maybe they were anticipating the performance on the field would leave fans feeling a little under the weather?
did they do anything for "The U thank you"? Saw a couple players throwing t shirts into the stands post game. Aside from that I didn't see anything.
Lots of giveaways after the game. Players were throwing balls autographed by the team and t-shirts into the crowd. Looked a bit like this:
At midfield across from the benches, Trusty and Elliott must have thrown 10 team autographed balls into the stands and far more t-shirts and other swag. Trusty was having fun with the t-shirt cannon.
I saw some of the Union office staff handing players bags of swag, but then we bolted. Usually the coach and a handful of players will give some speeches post-game, but those didn't happen. Was the PA system down again?
yeah it's always been very underwhelming compared to Flyers/Sixers/Phillies fan appreciation games I've been to. Hell, even the Reading Phils make a bigger deal of it.
I got a "Thank you" email today that was really a survey request about marketing. Seemed about par with what they have given me in the past. Didn't stay after because the guy with tickets next to mine put them on Stbhub and forgot to check the a-hole filter so I sat next to a mouthy Red Bulls fan all f'ing game long and the Union didn't help me out shutting him up. BTW, what the...was up with Haris's dead ball kicks yesterday? Every single one seemed to sky on him. Did he do steroids over the break?
Oh, you too? My 7 year-old learned some new words yesterday. Ended up sitting between Norf Joizee dee-bee and my family as a buffer. Alejandro Bedoya and Haris Medunjanin slammed the Union business office's decision to host a series of high school soccer games at Talen Energy Stadium late in the MLS regular season, hurting the quality of the playing surface: pic.twitter.com/HUTo7HeKXp— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) October 21, 2018
Somewhere Bakary Soumare is laughing at these guys and thinking about his days training in Chester Park.
I'm not sure why but the Unions promotion of Esports really bothers me. The fact that they call them "Athletes" makes it even worse. #getoffmylawn with your ********ing video games
I drove by Chester Park for the first time ever this weekend, almost brought tears to my eyes thinking of all the beautiful moments that happened there.

In the sense that the Union rode there in a van for practice, or in the sense that Chester Park is really shady and many creepy anonymous vans spend the night parked there?
I was picturing Chris Farley in a van down by the river (or Ridley Creek in this case), but this works too!
