Re: World Cup Viewing: NYC I saw a facebook page ..its a bar in bay ridge..looks like its all US fans
Not sure if this was posted, but I saw on New York Red Bulls facebook page that they'll be hosting a viewing party of the game at RBA with drink specials. If anyone is interested in going there. Considering they cant get fans to go there for the games actually played on the field, I don't know what the crowd will be like to watch the TV.
Re: World Cup Viewing: NYC ? Which bar are you talking about? Both ones I mentioned in my post are in park slope. I assume blackhorse might lean english since they are sort of anglophile. Anyone know if the woodwork in prospect heights will have more of a particular set of supporters? Its supposed to be a really nice soccer bar.
Hey. My friends and I are looking for a spot to watch the game but none of us are 21, and only a few of us have fakes. Do you believe any of these places would be ok with us just coming in and watching the game and enjoying to atmosphere. If not, does anyone know of a place where they would be cool with this or don't card?
Re: World Cup Viewing: NYC Soccer By Ives is doing a party: http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2010/06/reminder-sbi-viewing-party-for-usa-v-england.html I have several backups just in case.
Never been to Jack Dempsey's but sounds like the spot to be on Saturday. How does it figure it to be for the Argentina-Nigeria match?
ESPN is apparently showing games on 'a large high-definition projection cube' in the middle of vanderbilt ave in prospect heights for a street party tomorrow. I might go there for the Argentina game but it might rain later in the afternoon. Don't want to be in the position of running for an indoor tv if it starts raining at 4:00.
Legend's a few doors down is a much, much better place. Went to both there and Demsey's today and Legends is much bigger, better TV's, etc. Should be a good environment.
Demsey's is the official supporters bar. Go there first if you can get in for the best pro-US crowd in NYC. There will be much spillover into Legends though. Both are good bars however.
The whole block containing Legends and Demseys was great. Awesome crowd, and even better celebration in the street afterwards Demseys was packed, so I opted for Legends. Good mix of ENG/USA fans and overall was a great time. Anyone who was there as well see that guy get beat down and arrested in front of Legends???
Jack Dempseys was great. Packed full of American fans hours before the match started. I spent a lot of the match standing on a bench struggling to see a single TV but I wouldn't have traded the atmosphere for anything but Rustenberg.
Not counting the downstairs, here are the 400 or so people upstairs in the Scot's Club at the North Jersey Brigade event watching the game:
Feckin awesome!! This is great to see - from what I am hearing from bar owners around the city was that bars all over were packed with USA fans! Here is a shot from Demseys but this is only the TOP FLOOR! All three floors were packed like this - I think there were about 400-500 in Demseys alone - that spilled over down the street - you probably had another 2-300 in there from our group!
100% agreed. Might have been sweating profusely...and bumping people all day. But I will forever remember that night...and even two days after the event, my throat still feels sore from singing.

Re: World Cup Viewing: NYC How was this place? Was it very crowded? I'm considering going there for the Slovenia match because it's close to my work, but I'm worried about not being able to get in.
