Really good use of VAR in the Costa Rica - Brazil game to negate a Brazil PK. It's been utilized a lot better than in the Confed Cup last year.
Gorgeous stuff! Brazil is basically bypassing their own midfield. The fast-forward style of the EPL destrying Brazil’s midfield play.
It’s hard to root against Iceland but I really want a Nigeria victory to make this group exciting as hell.
They’re not out of it yet. Croatia is officially through and both Argentina and Iceland have a chance. Iceland have a +/- advantage over Argentina as well.
I know I’m jumping the gun but a bunch of us will be at The Dock at Montrose for the 1pm Poland game on Sunday. They’ve expanded and have a dedicated covered section with food, drinks and TVs. All are welcome!
I was looking back at the 1994 World Cup played here in the United States of American. How was it the Boston (New England) and Orlando got one extra game (6) than Chicago (5)? Not because of capacity, because Soldier Field had a big capacity than both New England and Orlando. What really sucks about not having Chicago hosting any of the games the closes US city to Chicago is about 700 miles (Toronto is about 500 miles). Looks like I'll be watching the Cup on TV.
Chicago hosted the "Opening Ceremonies" and parade, so they did not get an extra game. They are promoting the hell out of Orlando (and, hey, who wouldn't want to be in Orlando in middle of June during the day?).
I'm still convinced Chicago will get games. It's true we weren't in the bid, but Qatar's bid had air conditioned stadiums in Summer and now the whole tournament is going to be moved 6 months.
Mexico guaranteed of getting out and, very likely winning, the group. Germany needs to destroy Sweden and Korea and hope Mexico loses to Sweden. F*ck you, Alexi. It is still very easy to dislike Mexico.
I had to watch the Mexico/S. Korea game muted. Announcers were making my ears bleed. Germany 1-1 Sweden with 12+ minutes to go.
Wow! Never thought Germany would tie, let alone win this match. The World Cap matches so far have been very entertaining, Never thought that I would say this, but have no interest in what the Fire do tonight. Watched the first half of the Open Cup versus Atlanta and was completely disinterested.
