There will be two groups of five teams. One group will have 3 teams that finished first in their previous round, and 2 teams that finished second in their previous rounds. The other group will have 2 teams that finished first in their previous round, and 3 teams that finished second in their previous rounds. top 1 teams, australia, uzbekistan, iran, iraq, korea south 2nd teams, qatar, oman, lebanon, jordan, japan Now confusing part is Japan is ranked above Uzbekistan. how do you think they'll do the pots? and what final round groups do you think we'll see? the pots is confusing so imma avoid it. can this happen by the way? VVV group A: Australia Uzbekistan Iran Qatar Lebanon (3 teams 1st place, 2 teams second place) group B: Korea south Iraq Japan Oman Jordan (2 teams 1st place, 3 teams second place) is it realistic?
I wish such group)) It will be catastrophe for us if we will be in one group with both Japan and SKorea. At least we have to avoid one of them!
The Korea I saw today was very beatable I'm more scared of Jordan and Leb. They play with heart and if they see a light at the end of the tunnel they will fuuck you up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- when's the first match day? June I guess?
I wouldn't mind such a group either. We just have to finish ahead of Uzbekistan, Qatar and Lebanon which is very likely. And with the addition of Ashkan as a finisher, I think our major weakness in finishing will be partially resolved. What would be horrific is Australia, Japan, South Korea and Iran all in the same group all because of you Uzbecki's nice win today.
Next week's FIFA Rankings will be used to seed the draw, and your statement that both groups must have two or three first place teams and two or three second place teams isn't true. In the current FIFA Rankings, five of the top six remaining Asian countries finished first in their group. We'll see how the FIFA Rankings change next week.
On Fifa.com there is a calculator for the Fifa World Rankings, after playing with it a bit here is what I got from entering the scores. Pot 1: South Korea, Australia Pot 2: Iran, Japan Pot 3: Uzbekistan, Jordan Pot 4: Qatar, Iraq Pot 5: Oman, Lebanon Take note that Japan's loss and Korea's win has caused a major change in Pot 1.
These will be the rankings of the qualified teams on the 7th March: 1-Australia 2-South Korea 3-Japan 4-Iran 5-Uzbekistan 6-Iraq 7-Jordan 8-Qatar 9-Oman 10-Lebanon If the same pots are used as the 2010 WCQ then we will have the following pots: Pot 1- Australia, South Korea Pot 2- Japan, Iran Pot 3- Uzbekistan, Iraq Pot 4- Jordan, Qatar, Oman, Lebanon Pick the combinations from that
During the 2010 qualifiers they had only 4 pots, the final pot included 4 teams. So each group ended up with 1 team from pots 1-3 and 2 teams from the last pot. I have no idea why they did this. Must have run our of bowls to put the balls in
Thanks again. Idea for hardest and easiest group? For Hard, I think Australia, Japan, Uzbekistan, Qatar, Oman, but certainly not group of death worthy
That seems to be right. Here is my favorite group and I surly expect this: Australia Iran Uzbakistan Jordan Oman
Uzbekistan is the better team, but they will be missing 5 of their key players in their first match against us. So I'd pick Uzbekistan as well. My ideal group: Australia Iran Uzbekistan Oman Lebanon
i thought they miss 5 players in 1 match... so how do you know their first match will be against us? i am bored of playing south korea but maybe its better if we play them again... because we can be assured of 2 points. i doubt we can get more than 1 point off australia in 2 games. but it will be really exciting to play them.
Yes, and that 1 match will be their first match, a home match, which is scheduled against a Pot 2 team, either Iran or Japan.
Australia is currently in better form than South Korea. But Aussies always struggle in Middle East, and they have been having a lot of problem with Iraq in recent years, which plays a similar style of football as Iran. So Aussies will be a better pick for us, as we should match up well against them, and they're more likely to drop points against the lower seed teams in Middle East than South Korea. Australia's strongest point, is their physicality. They can push around the Thais, Saudis and Omanis who all tend to be fragile and short physically, and they can score a lot of headers on them. Thet won't be the case with a physically-strong Iran, Aussies won't be able to push around the Iranian players given the Iranian team's height and physical strength.
Definitely won't be Japan. They'll be reallocated to Position 5 because of the 2013 Confederations Cup. Presumably if Uzbekistan is in that group the match will be against Jordan, Qatar, Oman or Lebanon J
You're right. I forgot about the confederations cup exception given to Japan. But the Uzbeks will be playing Iran without 5 of their key players, should they get drawn in our group.
well actually, if history is anything to go by, australia have only beaten us once out of 6 games and that was in 1973. if we play them this round they should host in the MCG again.
on japan forums they said japan dominated and uzbekistan scored on one of their only chances. is this true?
By the way, I like Persian mentality and psychology. They always overestimate themselves. Because they are Ariy.
