sure but Walker was more or less the finished article. Wan-Bissaka isn't and i don't get the elite potential vibe from what i've seen. i get the fee but i am just not convinced by him to say he'd be worth it. personally hoping Palace says no even though we aren't conpeting with anyone for him by all accounts and we drop it
Sporting Lisbon have accepted a bid from Manchester United for Bruno Fernandes. An agreement with the midfielder's agent on various commissions and fees is still needed. (Source: Sport Mediaset) pic.twitter.com/PpX5OE7QwQ— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) June 11, 2019
Defensively he's got elite potential. If we had Zaha or a similar RW in front of him then he makes sense. The way he attacks is often by dribbling infield rather than out wide, his dribbling is quite effective but his final ball isn't that promising. If we had a proper winger then that space infield would be available for underlapping. But in a diamond I just don't see it, unless we expect Bruno to push out wide and be the width. What I would say is that having an elite defensive RB makes a lot of sense when the vast majority of teams teams down the left or have a goalscoring LWF who looks to cut in. AWB shows players out wide and then beats them nearly every time. I think Johno said we should have a defensive RB and an attacking LB to really overload on one flank?
IIRC his release claise this summer would be £25-35 million. Im not sure what Ed and Ole plans are...

i dunno i just don't see it but if it comes to that i will wish him all the best. we also don't have anyone to mentor him which is a whole other issue. plus Dalot's adventure at RWF last season means he has also missed development defensively at RB. we should pick a position and stick with it with him. all this will mean Wan-Bissaka or whoever will have to hit the ground running at RB
De Ligt is heading to PSG according to Di Marzio. Shame. The kid actually seemed like he had a good head on him and was putting his career ahead of money (hence turning us down). Guess not.
1) We could and would have matched whatever PSG is offering so I think he went for CL football. 2) Kind of disappointed that he chose PSG over us, but he will be crashing out of the champions league in the quarterfinals so sucks for him. 3) We could probably buy him for 130M in 3 years and offer him decent wages so its not all lost. 4) Di Marzio is only really reliable for Italian and Spanish transfers and has been luke warm at best for transfers outside those leagues.
De Ligt said I want to go somewhere where I will be challenged. There's nothing challenging about playing for PSG and getting automatic league titles.
I knew we wouldnt be able to pull it off it was just Riola scheming to get himslef and De Ligt better leverage somewhere or PSG...
Because Ajax are an honerable club and don't really engage in bidding wars or holding players ransom. They set a price, teams matched it, they left it up to the player who he decides.
