Well said. “Let's be fair that 2015-2017 was difficult to watch for our NT and that's on our coach imo.” Agree 1000%. Our tactics and gameplay last cycle were tough to watch. 12-14 cycle had guys like Macnelly, aldo and a younger and more in form Abel who were great at creating space and pushing the ball forward. we just didn’t have those kind of guys, instead we had a collective scrappier style of play and that was seen in games with or without roca. Not sure how the barrios-Roca argument makes much sense but if for the sake of argument we played Barrios, Lerma, GC1, GC2, SebP, or DaniT or whomever instead of Roca, our 14-18 wouldn’t have been that much different. Keep in mind that most of the names mentioned above were not always around and healthy with the level of frequency that Roca was around last cycle.
A friend of mine, Palmeiras fan, said that Scolari preferred Deyverson style foe this game. God knows why...
Those CA wins, we were coming off a poor 2015 year that included a poor CA in Chile. How we play and how we win matters because eventually it catches up. Eventually we would be exposed as a team and we struggled. My whole argument isnt to scapegoat Barrios but alternately I find it funny how so many point the finger at a DFM who did his job? That 2015-2017 had some serious issues. You could've put Kante and teh team would still look unhinged. My argument about Barrios is that for the NT with the exception of this year, he wasn't the same player we saw in Boca and that has a lot to do with the individual player, tactics and others surrounding him. Pekerman definitely was looking for an alternative for Roca and was struggling to find one. Beyond what you and I think, Pekerman's move to keep him as a primary player on the team, tells that he couldnt find someone at that time that would do something much different than what he was getting with Roca. Not saying I agree with that stance but that's ultimately the way he decided.
Our best matches in that tournament were without sanchez...dont care about if we had a bad year previously.....actually just prove more how he always were in our worse perfromances. ... Costa rica, peru and chile matches with him were horrible....even he was red card in our best moment of the match agsint chile......we played much better the other matches. As i said sanchez received too much love and a lot of matches and presentations are attributed to him despitr he didnt play actually .....
It is a little more interesting but Palmeiras still needs to score three goals so it is not that interesting.
River-Boca will be out of this world atmospheres at both Stadiums. I just hope Barrios does not kill JuanFer with some of his slide tackles.
What a bad 2018 for him. #KarmaSandwich or this case #KarmaDeEmpanada Long road ahead to redemption....
Barrios seems to always play well for Boca. On another note I wonder if Boca And River are going to petition to the CONMEBOL to have domestic referees. We have seen that in the past when two teams from the same country have played against each other in knockouts.
Barrios is a beast and seems to play like a lion in big games, great quality. The guy has become one of the core Colombian players and will be indispensable, all the defensive ability with the calmness and distribution I think he's already knocking on the door of the elite in that position and will hopefully show it in Europe in January.
He should return to Nacional in order to gain his corm back. He won't stay in Boca and pretty much brunt himself in Mexico. We'll just have to complete with the fact that it's his character.
Im glad you know this.....it also applies with your behaviour towards people that had to leave their countries because difficult situations.
Damn, Conmebol has been looking to move the Copa Libertadores final to a single 'host' destination, similar to Champions. This River-Boca final would have made them gazillions and still proved them 'right' by that decision. Schelotto wins this one and he will be forgiven and revered by every Boca supporter. He loses this one and he might as well take the Atlanta United position permanently.
