Not a lot to report in the first 20 minutes. Huddersfield has been very organized and Williams has been disciplined switching from right to left as Mooy pivots around trying to show for the ball.
27’ Salah has a shot on target. Williams was pressing high at the time and it came from a wall pass in the box.
30’ Williams slides in aggressively to cut out a pass and grazes his man. Couple mentions of a warning for him but it never comes as Liverpool retain possession.
40’ Game has basically been a half field drill. Huddersfield has been very organized and Liverpool hasn’t looked great in tight spaces.

Halftime 0-0: This game isn’t going to win over any neutrals. Huddersfield sucking the energy out of Liverpool and could be winning the psychological after surviving the penalty. Williams has mostly been a foot soldier in this one, falling in line from a positional sense and not really demanding the ball or making any standout plays.
50’ Shocking header from the Huddersfield captain acts as a through pass for Sturbridge and he finishes nicely pass Lossl. Liverpool up 1-0.
52’ Game is opening up more Williams pressing really high preventing play down the right flank, but Liverpool play long although it leads to nothing.
56’ Williams tracks back and slides for a nice block in the box. Ball finds its way to the edge of the area and Williams needs to recover for pressure a late run into the box.
58’ Huddersfield looking really shaken now... a ball over the top leads to a goal saving challenge from Juergenson. Resulting corner is directed in by Firmino at the front post. Liverpool now up 2-0 and it could potentially get ugly if Huddersfield do not retain their shape.
63’ Williams tracking Firmino but the Brazilian takes him for a walk to the center of the box then lays it off for Salah to shoot just wide left of the Post. Huddersfield midfield looking horrible and Mooy looks like he’s checked out after the Sunday league marking on the corner.
69’ Williams is replaced by Mounie. Not a surprise since they need goals. Williams wasn’t that great today regardless. He needs to make more of an impact on the game in transitioning to attack. Was a little too flat footed at times which is a unfortunate signature of his game at its most pedestrian.
