As it turns out, the male players may not have even been contacted at all (and to be clear, even if they had been, they are under no obligation to comment). The article seems to be a complete lie.
USA-France: Highest open-market ticket prices I’ve ever seen for a women’s soccer game pic.twitter.com/GpmTXz0xrP— Subscribe to GrantWahl.com (@GrantWahl) June 25, 2019
There's been some good soccer played at this tournament so far. Sorry to see Japan not advance as they've been one of the most consistently entertaining women's teams for years.
Grant Wahl just made a great discovery - he found out there is a secondary market for tickets, good job, Grant, you can post your own ticket over there for $150,000 and make headlines for USWNT.
Three days ago, you were saying that "tickets to the WWC are cheap like dirt" and that "****** final game is 23-84 Euros, read it again - FINAL game." What changed?
But since you didn't think that they could fill the stadiums, even for France's own games, doesn't that mean that you thought that the official prices were the only prices anybody would have to pay?
Official prices are the only prices we can analyze unless someone gets the access to POS data from online reselling platforms with completed transactions. https://www.stubhub.com/world-cup-f...ces-6-28-2019/event/103942482/?sort=price+asc Grant Wahl has posted €465 ticket, i am posting €195 ticket, both Cat 4. BTW, €195 is shamelessly low price for 1/4 of the top tourney in the world with hosts playing main favorite.
Rapinoe started it, and, in a thread about the tournament's appeal, a BS member with a good reputation put forth a fair-minded comment.
He doesn't think that they can't fill stadiums, he knows that they can't. It's merely a statement of fact.
They can't and they could not fill out the stadiums even with much lower ticket prices, we know that for the fact now. 1. WWC are using stadiums with lower capacity than WC2018 venues even though France boasts a number of arenas with higher capacity than selected venues. WWC venues: Lyon 57,900 (only used for semis and final) PDP 45,600 Nice 35,100 Roazhon 28,600 Oceane 24,000 Hainaut 22,600 Auguste 21,608 Masson 19,300 Alpes 18,000 List of France soccer arenas: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_football_stadiums_in_France Average stadium capacity: WC2018 - 45,900 WWC2019 - 30,300 2. How is Rapinoe not on a plane back from France for what she said? Way worse the anything Hope Solo ever did.
People like a winner. Doesn't matter whether it's Tom Brady, Lebron James, )Tim Tebow(the original 'taking a knee' guy, but for right-wing purposes), Megan Rapinoe, Mel Gibson, or Brie Larson. Personally, I just watch the show.
LOL. Solo criticized her teammates and coaching staff, and then was a bad sport after losing. Pinoe said she didn't want to visit the White House. Solo is gone because she had an adverse effect on her team. I see no evidence that Pinoe has had an adverse effect on her team. I don't even think I've heard a teammate "off the record" disagree with her. Krieger backed her up on the record... Then again, I've never agreed with athletes turning down White House trips, no matter the President, for political reasons. I'd go, but I'd make sure I brought some decent food along...
Yes, the men's World Cup outdraws the Women's World Cup by a considerable amount. I don't think that has ever been in dispute. It's like saying that the sun rises in the east. However, I think that you went too far when you indicated that you believed that France couldn't fill the stadium in LeHavre with its 24,000 crowd for its game against Brazil. You said: "Stadium capacity is 25K. In any case, I have a feeling match would not hit that mark even in a 45K stadium" This was after France had drawn full-house crowds of 45,261, 34,872 and 28,267 for its first three games (the capacity of the stadium where France-Brazil was played was reduced to 24,000 for the WWC, as is usually the case at World Cup stadiums, to make room for the press and freeloaders). You seem to think that I am saying that the WWC can fill every stadium for every game. Of course it can't. Even the men's World Cup never used to do that (I think 1994 was the first time). As recently as the 1986 World Cup, it had eight crowds of less than 20,000. Conversely, I think that you are saying that the WWC can't fill any stadium for any game. Maybe we are both wrong about what the other is saying. But if you are indeed saying that France can't hit the 25,000 mark for its games, I think you will get the answer to that on Friday.
Not every or any stadium, numbers I posted are telling that WWC could not compete with WC in total numbers of paid spectators, even with much lower ticket prices.
What about apples to apples, equality, discrimination, non-equal pay etc? Why can't we compare male and female soccer as equal sports?
