Salt Lake came very close to pulling it off a couple years ago and MLS teams have been doing a better job performing in away matches so I think there's a shot if they get a good draw in the knockout round. However I still think Mexican clubs will likely win the next 3.
Most likely, unless Concacaf "draws" again* all the LigaMX teams to one bracket and helps the MLS teams a little bit by giving them a clear path to the final, like they did with Salt Lake.
I don't really follow the CCL, but seeing as they won 8 straight according to an earlier comment on here, I assume they probably will get 2 more at least. What teams are left in the CCL as of now?
Year 9 will most likely not have Santos and Monterrey, teams that we know care for this tournament, as much as I want Tigres to be champs again, I don't really want them in CCL with Ferreti as the couch. We will need to wait and see how serious Tijuana and Toluca takes this tournament. I would like to see Monterrey again in the next CCL with their new players. Santos not much, they level has dropped dramatically from previous years. I would also like to see America or Cruz Azul, but in reality any Mexican team (even current Liga MX last place Leon) can win this tournament easily, is just a matter of how seriously they take it.
I think Kansas City could be a tough team to knock out in this upcoming tournament. I'd be surprised if MLS gets three teams to the knockouts though. Mexico for title #10, though it won't be Leon or America that wins it.
Cruz Azul- I can see them putting all their effort to win the liga mx because they still haven´t won that. America- Will want revenge for what happened last year. Pachuca- Always seem to win the CCL everytime they participate. Leon- Pretty much the team that plays the best football in Mexico. La decima in a row is a guarantee! Why always we? VAMOS AMERICA!!!!
Sporting KC won't go down easy, I could see KC winning it tbh, even if they aren't the favorites to do so. But sorry, my Sounders are going to have to take it next year
Not interested in what happened last year, Im thinking about this years. I think they have improved a bit, and like I said, I'm not saying Sporting KC is the favorite to win it, but i don't see it being a cake-walk for whatever Liga MX team gets them. Sporting KC will make it tough and imo is capable of pulling off the upset.
