I still fancy Liverpool to win title but with Chelsea winning today and man city winning its going to be close.
Liverpool will be fine. Does today hurt for Liverpool fans? I'm sure it does but this was not a loss because Liverpool played poorly, they really played well but sometimes it's all about margin of error and there was really none today and Gerrard made the worst kind of mistake that could have been made short of putting it in his own net. Chelsea earned that win.
Sorry but I think sometimes being a "professional" is about the intangibles and playing the game with integrity and I don't think Saurez has any.
But how does that affect the ability of Suarez or prove that suarez was not the main player for Liverpool?
Of course they played poorly. They were playing a reserve chelsea team who let them have all the possession yet created barely anything. Suarez confirming his 'flat track bully' tag. They choked. They resorted to pot shots and aimless crosses.
Ohh that's pretty funny. Not very original mind you but pretty funny. Also completely wrong. But never let your pre-conceived notions get destroyed by facts. I know most fans don't like Suarez (I probably wouldn't either), but he is by far the best player in the league this season so deal with it. Don't try and come up with some justification like "ohh he is just a flat track bully". For the record I ran the numbers. He has 68 goals in his premier league career. 15 of those are in against the top 6 (Arsenal, Everton, Manure, City, Chelsea, Spurs). So 22% of his goals have come against bigger clubs. Not exactly the work of a flat track bully. But keep trying . For the record here is is goal tally against the other top 7. Arsenal: 2 Everton: 4 Manure: 2 City: 1 Chelsea: 2 Spurs 4
As for us winning the league. Umm put it at 50/50. If we win out and lose on goal difference to city I will tip my hat. Winning 14 in a row was never likely and Chelsea had a plan and stuck to it. No matter how frustrating it was to watch.
Really feel bad for all of the Liverpool players not named Saurez. Seeing him cry was like warm chicken soup for the soul. Would have rather seen him writhing around the ground in pain but I'll take crying.
It's crazy that it really comes down to Gerrard's slip against Chelsea, but that's what happened. If that slip doesn't occur, I think Liverpool win the title. Oh well... tough way to end but it was a great season on the whole, an especially great 2014. This is ahead of where I thought they'd be, all things considered. I'll take 7th to 2nd, just about any fan would have taken that before the season started.
I'm a fan of Manchester United, Aston Villa, and some other English clubs. I'll root for Aston Villa, the only club not in the top four with at least three wins against clubs in the top four, to beat Manchester City because I'd rather Liverpool win the title than Manchester City.
Very true but hey stranger things have happened. Plus this is Man City, the club that wasted time by dribbling into the corner when they actually needed a goal to avoid relegation. But honestly after the Palace result I want City to either win or lose. If they draw I might just go suicidal.
Doesn't look good for Liverpool... http://nnelli.wordpress.com/2014/05/11/epl-title-race-analysis-halftime/
Fair enough. But after all I have heard about "letting it slip" from clubs who finished behind us, you had better believe I am not letting anyone forget it when we win.
Hilarious ............. thoroughly enjoyed watching the Liverpool slipper, err sorry, I meant the Liverpool skipper throw the title away against Chelsea; to then see the Tooth Fairy crying his eyes out at the end of the Crystal Palace game, well it just doesn't get much better.
When is the next time we will see a team outside of ManU, City, Chelsea or Arsenal win the title. 20 years? 50?
I enjoyed the part we played in stopping Liverpool from winning the title last season, although I'd rather a side like them won it than the megabucks cheats like Man City.
