I agree. Just don't get your hopes up for this summer. It would take some mighty implosion in our results to force him out early. Otherwise, he sees out this contract and rides off into the sunset.... finally!

I'm really encouraged by the personnel moves they're making and the fact they seem to have a clear organizational structure now, as opposed to Dick Law bumbling around. They're bringing in good quality front office players who will hopefully mitigate Wenger's worst impulses for the tine being, and smooth out the future post-Wenger too.

Just read on the BBC gossip page that a deal is done for Steven Nzonzi from Sevilla in January. There have often been rumours about Arsenal and Nzonzi in the past and whether or not you think he is a player good enough for Arsenal I think that at least it's the right type of player we need in the midfield. Tall, strong, athletic, that type of player could anchor the midfield and allow the more attacking midfielders to do what they do up the pitch. I know he's fallen out with the manager at Sevilla, so we'll see how much truth there is in this one this time.

The free transfer market is gonna be really interesting. Alexis and Ozil plus Leon Goretzka from Germany, who's probably going to go to Barca. Also, Arjun Robben, Ross Barkley, Emre Can, and some interesting young players.

We're in for Goretzka, but so is half of Europe.

Emre Can would be a useful player too.

Can is physically great, but he needs a lot of coaching, which would be a problem for us.

Can is borderline useless as a CM/DM. His passing ability is not remotely good enough. Now as a CB in a 3-man back line he could be very good.

Unlikely that we pay that kind of money for a player form the Dutch league.

He’s still raw and can become something special. Very fast scrappy player that can take on people one on one. Everton, Manchester City and Manchester United are also rumored to be interested but Arsenal seems to be the most aggressive.

As an American, I hope Wenger can run his career into the ground as well. ;)

I don't think we will see any arrivals this January, and no departures outside of Debuchy.

It sounds like Alexis is gonna be sold this window and we're gonna re-up Ozil, which FWIW sounds like the best possible outcome.

Yup heard that too. I'd be pretty happy with that outcome. As long as Ozil plays as well in the first year of his next contract as he seems to be doing in the last year of his current one. None of this Theo crap.

Edit: And also I hope he can be as motivated and productive next year, even without that extra incentive of an upcoming World Cup. We shall see.
