In order to win the bidding, the host country has to win the majority of the votes.

I guess most countries believe having the Gold Cup in the USA would make them more money, so they voted for it.

What country actually bid to host the Gold Cup in 2009?

    1. USA
    2. Canada? ? ?

I don't think there is any bidding.

Jack just decides who is going to host the cup.

I am not sure how it works, but for the copa america they have to have certain amount of people capacity, the stadiums have to pass strict regulations, and just a bunch of other stuff. How many other countries (in concacaf) will have a stadium to hold a finals of say 50k beyond mexico and USA?

I may be wrong, but this is what my common sense is telling me.

Canada? Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton and the Olympic Stadium in Montreal can hold 60,000 people.

Anyone know how the bidding and voting process work?

How do concacaf choose the host?

For World Cup, FIFA has a 24-members executive committee.

And did any country bid to host it beside the USA?

Warner runs the show, and a whole cluster of islands south of Florida and aast of Mexico repeatedly vote for him. Gold Cups in the USA bring in $$$. Warner likes $$$. I think we can all make the connection.

Well Mexico hasn't hosted the whole tournament either. The cup has been hosted by Mexico and US together, but never exclusively in Mexico. I think it should go to Mexico first before Canada.

CR National Stadium is about to be rebuilt, we should host a GC to inaugurate it
Saprissa, Alajuela, Estadio Nacional and Estadio Ecologico, each of them can host a group

Ecologico?? No way...I wouldn't even host a sunday brunch there.

Fello Meza in Cartago could be the other host. Or better yet, Edgardo Baltodano in Liberia. I hear Sotela is planning on significantly expanding its capacity.

If Mexico wants to host it, just BID for it.

The US won the bid everytime because it is the only country who bid for it.

DO you have any proof that there is a bid?

As far as I know Jack just decides who is going to host.

If the Gold Cup would've been hosted by Central America before, I can bet that neither US or Mexico would've won it.

That's not the only reason to host a tournament though.

If UEFA can have Austria/Switzerland and even Poland/Ukraine host and Asia can have Vietnam/Indonesia/Thailand/Singapore as hosts then there is no reason CONCACAF couldn't have Panama/Costa Rica or Guatemala/El Salvador/Honduras, etc.

I do not know about europe, but the last AFC asian cup was a flop because of those said nations. Small crowds if the host nation was not playing.

You will always get a good amount of fans for each country, that's comming to watch the games when it's being hosted in the U.S. Can you say the same for the others?
