Maybe we were not as bad as we first thought. Still the team had many problems and Ventura was at fault for a lot, but seeing where Sweden is now, makes me wonder if we were actually as shit of a team as we all thought.

Hey Rachel ! What's up sis ! So as you were saying a month ago that the new Italy manager needed to call up good young talent for this WC in Russia and ...how did you put it?...oh yeah #buildforthefuture

But I have a better and more current focus with Germany....so let's take a quick look over there...shall we?

Well , you're on the path with this last WC in joining us.....tread carefully brosefina

Yeah we like you too , even more now:D ...got any more material for us?

And I liked these before , and even more so now :)

Couldn't even draw S Korea ( as defending champs ) when it mattered and fell apart in the final minutes....sad....not for you personally though :)

    World's best now huh?

Perhaps it was better you didn't qualify either looking back in retrospect?....How bout that Sweden Rachel? Pretty tough squad , even though they don't have the same talent you guys have being the world's best and all? ;)

Come back sis , we miss you :p

Mancini saying now that no team at the World Cup is better than Italy other than Brazil. Meanwhile, soon to be 35 years old De Rossi has made himself available for selection because we 'need his experience'. What planet is Mancini living on.

He was talking about in history. Not currently, but true Italy & Germany are the second most successful teams after Brazil.

    No it doesn't.

This is the first World Cup that Italy have not participated in for 60 years, but Mancini made it clear he was not impressed by several sides in Russia, agreeing with some fans that ‘we could’ve held our own’.

“Judging from the games I’ve watched so far and barring Brazil, I haven’t seen a national team better than us,” the CT told Canale 5.

Are you just arguing for argument's sake now?

Croatia are better than Italy. You could be right with your prediction.

Why the hell would you bring DDR back? These ancient players is one of the main reasons why we can't improve.

De Rossi to return? That is a ridiculous decision any way you look at it. He will be 35 later this month!

if De Rossi had played against Germany in 2016 we would have made the semis. He has been an important player and has filled a vital role.

Conte's biggest mistake in that tournament was not bringing a back-up regista who could fill in for DDR.

He did. Motta was his backup, but he was suspended though.

Yes, he has been, but at 35 he needs to stick to his int'l retirement in order to be able to contribute meaningfully during his final season at Roma before he retires.

It seems only in Italy do players think it is the norm to play into their late 30s, which has got us in this whole mess of having no good generation of players between 25-30 now.

Bringing old men back is Italy's answer? Meanwhile, in this World Cup, we are watching two of the youngest teams growing together (France and England)

Mancini and company need to wake up.
